Jamal Murray's dad says UK has contacted

Love his game after watching him in the summit. Not overly quick/fast but can control tempo, has a nice jumper, and is bouncy. I know this was an "all star" game but to put 30 on some of the best prospects under 18 in the WORLD, it deserves some credit.

Outstanding news. Kid is a stud, and he's been saying that he hopes UK reaches out to him. He and Skal are friends as well, and Skal has been wanting BBN to show him some love.
If we get him on board, we'll be golden. The kind of player that can co-exist with other talented guards. Good all around player.

He is the unknown jewel of the class until the Hoops Summit. Now UK & Duke have reached out.

about time

Seems we tend to focus in one 1 or 2 guys for a certain position and not look around and see if their are just as talented guys out their.
I know one thing he was one of the most impressive guys their if not the most impressive. I'm glad you guys saw what I saw last year when I watched him play. Dude was just like what he displayed last Sat but his handles now are a tad bit better. I can see him easily play the role Aaron play but he is a much better player than Aaron was and Jamal could easily run the point as well if Ulis is out.
Watching him live and in person makes you appreciate his game even much more so, he is as gifted as a scorer as Newman is but Newman has a little quicker release and a tad more athletic. Has a better shot than Newman though.

He looked like the best guard on the floor for either team. Shooting, driving, and dunking. Maybe some of the players underestimated him. Not now.

its funny to me that some players can jack up 25 shots in a game and fans will love them. but when others do it....they are labeled selfish.

has he decided to reclassify? the last i read two days ago he's still class of '16 and hadn't made up his mind whether or not to reclassify.

Definitely odd.

Also interesting that a four-star junior that 95-percent of the board had never heard of and has only played one game that those posters have seen is suddenly this high-priority guard. Meanwhile, similarly ranked players that no one has heard of yet are "sky is falling back-up plans" that mean we aren't going to land any of our targets.

I do like Murray though, and would like to see him as a Cat either this or next season. I think he'd be wasting his time spending another year in high school, and he has that sneaky bounce and change of pace like Brandon Roy did.

Great size, good skill, but you're right that when someone like Brandon Knight took a lot of shots in meaningless games, folks were freaking out. Of course, it's to be expected when these are the only games most people watch before the guys step on campus anywhere. The same ones think Zimmerman can't play.

A starting PG spot at Duke or THE man at UK, makes it a pretty enticing possibility. It doesn't get more opportune than either of those.

That dude wasn't jacking up shots at all. Not sure where that idea is coming from, unless you didn't watch the game.

And he was the most impressive player without a doubt, then Simmons and Skal.

Jamal Murray outplayed Malik Newman in my opinion and it he did it without any flash whatsoever. Definitely would take him over Newman at this point. Hope Cal can get this kid on board and convince him to reclassify.

So is Cal recruiting Murray for '16 or does he see him reclassifying for this year? If it's the latter then can we take that as an indication that Newman is NOT a lock for the Cats? The plot thickens...

Unknown jewel? He was/is a top 20 recruit in 2016

Murray looks like he could get us 20 most games and he may be the only recruit left that could do that. Him and Skal would be a great duo for scoring it every night out. Ulis would be solid every night out. And Briscoe looks like he will be a very solid player.

If we got Murray and Zimmerman think we would have an excellent team. Newman would really push us over the top with those two. Murray would be coming to UK at a time where he could really shine from the get go.

Both of you guys are sort of right, but the difference is that Murray hit a lot of those shots. He wasn't throwing up bricks while he kept chucking.

And Murray WAS an unknown 4 star junior. That performance at the Hoop Summit was so good, and so good in multi-faceted ways, that it got everyone's attention. not just UK fans, or fans of any team that might recruit him. No one had heard of Dirk Nowitizki before that game, or Tony Parker. And Enes Kanter went from a "we'll put him in the top 25 for the 2010 class because we hear he's really good" to a projected top 5 pick because of that game. Murray (right or wrong) is next in line with that kind of bump.

Murray had a little more exposure than those guys, but not much more. Now it's a totally different thing for him, which may or may not be an overreaction based on one game, but goes way beyond just knee-jerk fans.

wouldn't hurt to add Murray, Newman & Ingram.........can NEVER have too many scorers

4-5 of Murray's shots wer end of the shot clock long range bombs or half court heaves at the end if the quarters.
What's funny is that just about all of his shots just about went in even if it was 45 ft away.

If he is wanted by both Calipari and Krzyzshitski. I am going to assume the dude is a player.

Team USA had much better guards than the world, who knows what Newman could have done if the roles were reversed.

Yeah - I re-watched the game and Jamal chucked up some inadvisable shots early and missed them - just like Newman and Brown did.

The difference is Murray started hitting his shots and the coach left him in, whereas the USA coach sat Newman and Brown in favor of Kennard and Ingram - who were hitting their shots early.

Make no mistake about it - Jamal Murray is an elite player and future pro - but I wouldn't draw many conclusions abt Newman's/Brown's games from this one. The World Team also had size and blocking ability that none of these kids have seen before and won't again until they hit the pros, and that really affected guys who games involving a lot of driving the lane and favored shooters.

Also he is 6'5 with guard skills so he could easily fill our gaping hole at the SF spot. We have all seen that it's simply not possible for Alex to play SF and if we strike out with Brown and Ingram we have to have somebody play SF. Willis is a 3 but who knows how good his defense is.

Love to have him and Newman together if they could coexist. With Ulis leading the way, I think they could work together.

Starters
G Ulis
G Newman
G Murray
F Poythress
F Labissiere

Key Reserves
G Briscoe
F Lee

That would be a pretty awesome 7-man rotation. Lots of scoring power. All three guards starting can shoot the 3. Spacing would be very good.

Not sure about defense since Murray seems small (weight wise) to play at the 3, but man would we be able to spread the floor with that team.

That would be a disaster.........third or fourth in the SEC and out first weekend of NCAA

I watched Jamal and Maker's team play at Hoopfest in Marshall County in December and I kept asking my buds who that kid was, and that he was going to be special. He definitely led his team and was WAY better than Maker. Murray put up 30 something points and didn't seem to miss a shot. Even got to meat him and Maker both as they posted up after their game to sign autographs. Very humble kid and was well mannered. Never thought he would be in discussion to play at UK, even though I always hoped we would offer and get him. I seen him in person play twice, and Newman and Diallo, and Murray and Newman was a toss-up based on how they both performed at Hoopfest. Go Cats!!!

That lineup would lack beef inside but would be very potent offensively. I don't see how we would pull Murray and Newman to go along with Briscoe, but if we did that would be kind of incredible.

Matthews is a good player and we're lucky to have him. Murray showed NBA All Star talent on Saturday.

He will most likely end up at Duke. You put him & Kinnard on same team & K will win another one. After watching McDonalds & Hoop Summit games...Not seeing the buzz about Brown, Maker Jeter or Swannigan.

Hope we get one of these in this order...Ingram,Murray,Dialo,Newman & Zimmerman

If Murray reclassified to 2015, then I think Duke leads. But if Malik Newman goes somewhere else, Kentucky would have a chance. However, I think Newman is probably going to sign with Kentucky.
