Jackson State (next opponent)

If there isn't something meaningful to complain about, some on this board will truly reach for something and if there is nothing to reach for, they will make up something to complain about. This is one of the best starts to a season that we have seen from a Kentucky team in a long time, so just be happy.

This is that one game against a putrid team. A team that will surely end up below 300 in every metric. Not sure why Kentucky schedules these type of teams instead of someone else, like Lipscomb, WKU, etc. This isn't like football where schedules are made years in advance. You should be able to spot some top 100-200 games you can fill the schedule with. I know it's not a huge deal but it feels like there's some meat left on the bone by playing these awful teams. It's not as bad as what Cal used to do, however.
Well, it's a great opportunity to get guys on the bench big minutes. That's depth that could come in handy down the stretch.

Very well said.

Actually games are scheduled years in advance, not all of them but they. This game is part of a schedule that was made years ago where we play one HBCU each season. This year it's Jackson State. I'm not sure when that agreement is over.

This game should provide an opportunity for everyone to get plenty of playing time. I don't think Pope has any interest in embarrassing Jackson State by scoring 200 points.

I wasn't aware of the HBCU agreement. Makes sense. However, I entirely disagree with many of the comments that you can't really tell the difference between a team who will be in the 200's vs the 300's. This is actually VERY easy to do. Heck, teams that simply just play many big conference schools, are likely to be in the 200's, or even 100's.

It's also very easy to look at historic trends and see that most of these HBCU's and teams in certain leagues will always be 250+ or 300+.

For instance, it's pretty clear that if you play a middle of the pack team from the MAC, Big South, Sun Belt, MVC, etc, you won't get a 300+ team. Even those schools, who might not even go .500 on the season, will still end up like 190th.
