Jackson Smith hits 63-yard FG

For context: I occasionally host foreign (mostly Japanese)athletes who come to Florida to train at IMG Academy and we had a Japanese FG kicker who was trying to get a tryout with an NFL team. I filmed his promotional video and we set up two footballs, one on each hashmark(2 at midfield, 2 at 45 yd line etc all the way to the 30 yd line), so 10 balls total. I started the camera rolling and he kicked one after another, all 10, through the uprights in a little over a minute and he couldn't get a sniff from the NFL. He later kicked one from 70, to answer my question as to why he couldn't get a tryout. He said kicking long FGs is easy without a defense coming at you. I tried to convince him to get a college scholarship, but he went to some elite FG academy in San Diego for several months and never got a shot, so went back to Japan. We still stay in touch occasionally.

Lots of guys look like PGA pros on the range and on the putting green. Doing it for big money with lots of trees, bunkers, water, and under tons of pressure is just a tad different.

Just a FYI, 65 yarders were not that hard for me back in 1976. Now make one of those in a game and show me. I actually tried a 65 yarder against North Carolina at Commonwealth stadium.
He's made 50+ yarders in games including one in the 8th grade state championship

He’s a good talented kicker. But my nephews stats were better than his last year. Just sayin’ lol. Finished 2nd team all-state to Smith. Should be first team all state this year.
