Izzo crying about officiating...

Is he really complaining after his team shot double the free throws that Providence did? Without those rules, his team probably shoots 8 free throws and loses the game

I cant get on him for this at all..i hate Refs...they destroy the game to begin with and now with this new rule or point of emphasis they actually are looking to call more fouls and draw attn to themselves. For example, that offensive foul they called on Matthews last night for hooking??? You have to have your mind made up you are gonna call that before it happens to see it

The new rules are to prevent teams like Ill State from doing what they tried to do last night. That is foul non stop trying to get a win. The refs still only called half of their fouls last night because Ill state fouled us every trip down the court.

Anyone notice Skal was being held and grabbed like crazy all 16 minutes he was in the game? I think they called that once all game.

If Calipari said something like this, the quote would be:

"We're always adjusting. Like I said... the officials... it's their fault."

Izzo has always played football in the court with his defense and it has been the source of his success , much like Pitino winning a title with incredible amount of hand and body checking all game .

I guess you hate me. But I wish every fan who hates officials would be forced to officiate one ball game. You would sing a different tune.

that redbird team plays a lot like another redbird team not far from here. if the refs are enforcing the freedom of movement rule tomorrow night at mich st there might be a hundred fouls called.

If Matthews is going to hook someone he shouldn't make it so obvious.

Some truth to that, but he's taken a lot of teams to the final four that didn't deserve to get there on talent alone.

Let's face it: coaches do what they have to do to win
Izzy is one of them, Pitino became one at UL, John Thompson Sr another, even Joe B put the muscle to work with Robey and Phillips and Bennett and....the list goes on
It's high time to bring basketball back to a skill game rather than a wrestling match
I applaud what they are doing
Scoring is up
Playmaking is more evident
Tempo is better
Keep blowing those whistles refs...I don't mind it a bit

That was not an obvious hook..go back and watch it and i dont mean slow it down...regular speed...atrocious call

Hopefully the new rules keep being enforced. The game has gotten really terrible to watch with the rugby scrums down low, hip-checking cutters, all the hand-checking and defenders riding offensive players up the court like horses.

Of course the coaches who rely on teaching 3-stars to be rough and tough are going to cry about fouls.

If you're gonna troll, try hashtagging to make it stand out more. That way you can better "draw attn to" yourself. YWIA.

I wish they would call the foul on the Body Checking ,bumping the ball handler,as a Freedom of Movement call, the hands aren't always the offender.

If Izzo is complaining, that means the refs are doing a good job.

Izzo is an excellent coach, and in reality, he's not wedded to a slow, ugly style of play (there have been years when his teams have gotten out and run), but a lot of what he stands for is the stuff that's been making college basketball a tough watch for the last decade.

The quality of your weight-training program should not directly correlate to the quality of your team. If it does, there's something fundamentally wrong with the way the game is being officiated.
