It's Devin Booker gifting the Hogs now.

IDGAF who he gives shoes to (he sent Pope the UK colorway before the season)...Can we just talk about how awful the shoes are? I have our low Dunks, the Max 270s and a couple pairs of the Pegasus. All UK branded or colorway named for UK. Just saying, I buy and wear a lot of our Nike shoes. I wouldn't wear those things if someone gave them to me. They are hideous.

They are. You can see it. They are grateful and they say it in every interview they have.

Have you even watched a game this year?
Interviews lol? You mean the things where they give the same canned answers over and over again?

Calipari’s guys came because UK(and the coach) offered the biggest stage to play on and the chance to realize their pro basketball dreams. Pope’s guys are doing the same thing. They’re just 4 and 5 years older when they’re doing it. It’s the exact same thing.

You just answered my question unintentionally. Thanks!

It is not remotely the same if you actually paid attention and weren't just riding Cals jock you'd see that. You can still go be a Cal fan. You don't have to stay here and defend him.

I think a lot of this comes down to a complete miscommunication/misunderstanding. Fans see it as a Team Cal vs Team UK thing, pick a side but not both. For some of the players they won’t see it that way. The have their former coach and their former school and probably have loyalty to both.

Not a big deal. He gifted Pope and team shoes before Arkansas. Of all the things to get upset over, this isn't one of them. As long as he isn't taking shots at the fans like the clowns after the Arkansas/UK game and wearing their colors, he can gift shoes to whoever he wants. CCC's former players aren't going to turn on him and feel the same way many of us do about their former coach. It is like Pope still respecting Rick Pitino over the years, even though he was at Louisville. They can be loyal to their former coach and love their alma mater. It is the ones that took shots at the fan base I have a problem with.

There's nuance in life. Booker probably knows zero coaches or players on the UK team on a personal level. He is still close to Cal, is (or at least was) very close friends with Ulis, and probably knows a few of the guys like Wagner a little bit.

I think you guys get way too worked up over stuff like this and really undervalue what it's like to have a very close personal relationship to your old coach.
Being annoyed with Reeds decision on the day we played Arkansas…and being a Kentucky legacy player and instate kid was understandable.

Taking note of which failed UK/Cal players from the end of Cals tenure that popped off floating about Arkansas win….also understandable (they were in locker rooms where Cal was making the UK media and fanbase the enemy…openly doing so in interviews so you can assume it was worse behind close doors)

But Booker has shown UK a ton of love. Pretty sure he’s even done so since the Pope hire. As far as I know, he didn’t publicly pop off surrounding the UK/Ark matchup. And he’s best friends with Ulis. This one is a lot of nothing. Nobody said the former Cal guys can support their coach and pull for them when they aren’t playing UK/their school.

These dudes are like Jeff Gordon. Jeff Gordon is from Hendricks County, Indiana. Tri-West high school to be more accurate. My neck of the woods. But when he got big he told the NASCAR world he was from California.
Gordon was born in California and moved to Indiana at 16 to pursue his racing dream. I always knew he had roots in Indiana but I could see why he claims California. Most people probably do wherever they were born or spent a large portion of their life.

As if we thought ANY of Cal's mercenaries gave two shites about the name on the front of the jersey....
Theirs a few but not many.
Dev sold my betting slip last night 😔.

But on topic he posted this a couple of weeks ago . I’m sure he still has love for Kentucky. People just have to realize a lot of these guys have a great relationship with their former coach . If he ask for shoes they most likely wouldn’t say no.
of course you make a KY shoe we are the only fan base that will sell out a breakfast cereal on Amazon a day after we knew it even existed

They're something you give to some old UK fan in the Alzheimer's wing at a nursing home.

That's fine. We don't claim him anyway. He does have a tiny little podunk street in Pittsboro named after him though. Nothing on it, lol.
Ah still kinda cool. Not as many people from Indiana that make it huge. He was my favorite driver. Not a huge NASCAR fan but I always rooted for him when I watched it.

Booker who had no uk roots at all bei g for both is a total non issue an normal.

Arkansas Reed growing up in KY. All his life his mother actually UK women legend his father a 2 time champion with an mvp an is KY. Royalty ......... before we play Arkansas wears a Arkansaa short on top of UK. Shorts ....... that's an issue n he deserves to get shit for it. Booker is a good dude he's just for both his coach an his school. No where near same thing. HE KNEW BETTER

Booker knows what it’s like to go cold in the tournament. Hopefully cow does tonight too.

I’ve not watched a Booker game since he left so he means nothing to me.

I’ve seen multiple documentaries on Gordon. Thought he was born in Vallejo, California and then when he started racing as a kid in California age restrictions wouldn’t allow him to race in the class he wanted to race in. So his Rich stepfather and mother moved with him to Pittsboro, Indiana where there were no restrictions.
So I guess you can look at it in a couple different ways.
Kinda like is Abe Lincoln from KY or Illinois.

No chance they’re wide toe box and actually good for your feet. Good job Booker, giving the players plantar fasciitis

Who cares!

Book can give to whomever he likes, does not make him a sellout. If he publicly says I did not play for UK and am not a UK fan so be it. But I do not think he has said anything and has gifted UK with stuff this year, IIRC. One of his close friends (Ulis) is on that staff, his old coach. Good for him. Next story.

Thank you, sir. I didn’t weigh it, but that was a good 6lb smallmouth from the Cumberland River. 10 years later and still the biggest smallie I’ve ever caught.
Looks bigger than 6 to me. Huge smallie. I could bass fish every day. My PB’s are three largemouth about 6.5 each and a 4 pound smallie. Great job my man.

Or maybe Nike came out with a new colorway/team edition and sent them to Arkansas. Who cares even if Booker sent his old coach some shoes. He still supports UK a ton. It’s not that serious. Not like he sent them the night of the UK/Ark game.

This doesn't really bother me. I have no right to be bothered anyways, but this seems like a non issue to me.

On a personal level, in relation to Booker, his college coach and good friend are both employed at Arkansas.

This shoe deal is strictly business and marketing, leveraged by personal connections, and nothing else.

I mean Bam just made Kevin love wear a uk shirt for ucla losing b4 uk. Dillingham was all decked out in UK stuff on GameDay the other day.
I don’t think rob really messed with calipari like that. He wanted the stage. Not the coach. And calipari bringing him off the bench was offensive.
