you got 3 guys today that didn't come back that don't have a prayer of getting drafted...and you somehow think that's a Cal problem??? Wheller had his on court problems. But the off court problems stemmed from Oscar and Wheeler not getting along. As I said months ago the rift started last year before the St Peter's game and Oscar's vison scare. It spilled over into the next year. Wheeler was not the only one upset about Oscar, a good chunk of the team was upset, and those not upset, where just super chill, be by themselves type.
Cal's system of bringing in these huge group of 5* players every year, just won't work anymore. You will not be able to keep good 2-3y players knowing Cal's track record of playing his 5*s first over players that stick around. In the days of the portal, it's just not going to happen. Nor are you going to get a great player in the portal to come here knowing there is a 5* already in his position. Not unless we throw tons of NIL at them, and so far we have shown we are either unable, or don't guarantee NIL. I just dont see Cal changing his team building style, nor the teams philosophy on NIL changing anytime soon.

How do you explain the debacle in 2020? That was a similar recruiting class. Highly touted. Totally crapped the bed. And of course I do agree on wheeler. He was a terrible addition by cal. Completely wrong player idk what he was thinking. Cal stinks man there’s no denying it. Wheeler is only part of it. Remember the worst team in a non probation year was the year BEFORE wheeler. It’s a disfunctional program at this point.
Wheeler is the ultimate scapegoat for small minded people.

Cal has a done a terrible job of recruiting and player evaluation for 3 years. We had 2 UK level players on last years team. 2 on this year's team plus 1 promising player. We had a complete failure at point guard for 3 seasons.
That has been the undoing. But even with just 2 players last season we earned a 2 seed.
The player problem has been corrected. Getting transfers to be your main players has been an utter failure with only one exception. Cal has returned to his roots.
And it will pay off immediately.

Wheeler was butt hurt for losing his starting role. He then quit on uk. Selfish kid.

It’s true. Just go back and look. I even make my statement before he was permanently replaced as the starter. The vitriol was already there or I would not have made such a statement at that time
these players are praised and told how great they are since they were old enough to show any athletic promise. You are correct, that is not ccc's fault..........UNTIL they arrive at UK. Then it is his fault. He plays the game right along to keep them happy. His 5* favorites play regardless of how they perform, regardless of how it hurts the team winning. He allows their gangs to tell him how to play them, where to play them, instead of standing up and saying this is how we are going to play to make the team better.
Wheeler is a perfect example. Every fan on this board said that he would not help the team, but hurt them because of his inability to shoot. Yet, ccc continued to play him & Livingston even though they produced nothing. Toppin is another example. He was not starting material and should have only played back up minutes, yet ccc did nothing to find a better player out of high school or in the portal to take his place. This is exactly why UK can not win games against top teams. You can't win with players that are fundamentally terrible and a roster full of guys that can't shoot.
Kind of funny, Wheeler and Brooks got about as far away from Kentucky as you could get. I mean they will never hear about Kentucky out there, which is probably what they want.
Cal is the CEO of UK basketball so he is responsible for everything that happens on his watch.

What does that fool think Cal is being paid to do? If nothing is Cal's fault which sounds like he has no obligations or responsibilities, why is he or anyone like him needed for any team?
