Isaiah Briscoe Wins 3 Pt Contest

He can really score.I'm most surprised Thon Maker finished second.I know most don't agree with me but I really like Maker and wish he would come here.

Confidence has never been an area of opportunity for Briscoe, who actually walked off the court after taking the lead after just three racks in the first round, leaving two racks entirely untouched.

I stand by my earlier comparison to Bogans and Bradley re:Briscoe's swag

Skal killing it on an interview. Interviewer predicted he'd be the 'future president of Haiti.' Skal says his goal is a national championship. I hope he doesn't stumble upon this board and find out that is impossible.

By the way, they recounted his story of surviving the earthquake again. Skal is so well spoken, and has such a compelling story, the NCAA would be even more stupid than we know them to be to penalize him for some alleged unseemliness by his guardian.

Ha.He sure won't have trouble with his confidence.Briscoe and Ulis will be one of the best guard duos next season.

anyone who says A. Briscoe can't score and B. He can't shoot must not have seen him play much . He is a scorer who has had to learn how to be a pg as he is a pure SG who turned into a PG not the other way around. Kid can light it up . Skal will be the leading scorer at around 16 IMO but Briscoe and Poy will both average around 14 . Ulis . Lee and Mulder will be around 7-10

Any updates from the game from anyone able to watch? How are Brisco and Skal doing?

Briscoe looks great in this game. He's just all over the place and playing very hard.I think he will be a big crowd favorite.

if he averages more than 12 we will have enough scoring. poythress and skal should both be double figures. ulis may be close as well. he's definitely going to get more shot opportunities.

Towns won some 3 point contests. So your mileage on that may vary.

That said, the idea that Briscoe isn't a scorer is pretty ignorant. In the Nike EYBL last year, he went for over 18 ppg, including over 21 ppg in the Peach Jam (for the best team in the EYBL). That was one of the better averages for anyone playing in those events, which are generally the toughest competition you'll find in AAU ball. Briscoe's not a jumpshooter per se, but he can shoot, and he uses his size to get to the line at a really high rate. In terms of scoring, he's probably the best PG UK's brought in since Brandon Knight.

Well, take it Maker is either going overseas or he's re-classifying for certain because this All Star game was for graduating Sr's--class of '15--and he participated. Hoop Summit is exempt to underclassmen--this isn't.

I'll say it. I was surprised that he won it lol.
Love the kid's confidence though. He and Ulis' winning attitude will carry this team a long way next season.

What?! no way he's a scorer. .

Semantics, and it's already been beaten to death today. This is a good thread, let's keep it that way.

Briscoe's legit, and I've always said as much. He'll be a OAD top 20 pick and I'm excited about that.

Not to be a downer, but winning a 3 point contest doesn't really always translate to being a good 3 point shooter in games (he very well could be) but I think it's pretty wild to already say scoring won't be a problem. Seems like a pretty legitimate concern

Perhaps not - but knowing the ability to hit threes (and they looked awfully pretty) is there is a big step forward, wouldn't you say?

I didn't get to see the game - did anyone by any chance get the final stats for Isaiah and Skal?

Also, surprised I didn't see this on KSR.......
