They are responsive, but they are designed by default to be "big" on every device, much like this forum. Everything is designed to be a massive touch button.

Not sure what you mean by designed to be big...media queries in css allow you to serve up different views based on media size...ie: nav bar becomes hamburger menu or drop down....images, logos, fonts, everything can be tweaked for media size.
