Is South Carolina legit?

I am a bit disturbed they shot that many FTs as we have to play them on the road this year. No team deserves 60+ FTs in a 40 min college basketball game. Feel bad for Memphis as I doubt it was that one sided in terms of correct officiating.

Memphis was fouling like no team I have ever seen. It was almost comical. Yeah, it was one sided, but if you watched the game you'd know it was mostly correct calls. Heck, they even called some on SC when the players were 3 feet apart cause Memphis was hacking like a machine and I guess the refs were trying to even things up. It got to the point where Memphis was fouling on every shot. They wanted to fight more than play ball. SC's big man got two fouls called on him him in 11 seconds in the first minute of the game. It wasn't home cooking, it was Memphis wanting to be thugs more than win a game. But you feel free to feel bad for them.

I think USC is for real, as in a tournament team. Then again, I thought they were decent heading into SEC play last year.

Struggled? Needed 60 free throws? What would have happened if they had only been fouled enough to shoot 16 free throws?

You need a team that isn't trying to literally foul their way to a win to know that.

They shot 63 FTs tonight!!! Memphis had 5 guys foul out.

Incredible

Memphis is Louisville Jr. Nowadays. It's not SC's Fault they can't play without fouling.

I watched the entire game and won 500 on it.

SC is TBD. If you go back and look, there have been many, many cases of power conference schools bolting out to great records OOC (against mostly crap competition), then deflating like a blown tire when they play in the conference (I know SC's state rival, Clemson, has done it a few times).

SC has given themselves a little cushion, but things could turn on them quickly. I actually hope not (except against UK), as I kind of like Martin, and it would be nice to see more SEC teams make the tourney.

I'm just excited the SEC is producing. Let's not over analyze. Just a year ago people were raising hell because the sec was losing to community colleges.

#8 that's horseshit. Gotta take a moment to disagree. Memphis fouled over and over. A foul is a foul is a foul. Pastner is turning into little Ricky. Memphis is fouling at an alarmingly high rate this year. He's about to lose his job.

He said they "needed" 60 free throws to win. That is false. They took over 60 free throws and they won. That is all there is. That game was an anomaly, an outlier. You can't really discern much from the game.

Looking forward to that game in Columbia Feb 13th! Should be packed with Cat fans....

If I can get a ticket I may go to that one. I am only about 85 or so miles away. I actually NEED to attend a UK game.

Traditionally a lot of UK fans show up for that one. You'll have good company but imagine a ticket might not be as easy to find this year.

What do they usually run and where would you suggest I look to find a ticket? (Haven't been to a basketball game in 10 or so years.) Thanks in advance...

I like Martin. He's a really good coach. I love watching him on the sideline. His facial expressions are awesome. I think USCjr will be tough both home and away when we play them. Overall, I am in the TBD camp.

I don't think they are legit but they can prove me wrong. They have multiple fans on the national board trash talking, but it's all in good fun as they aren't hostile at all. I'm having fun with them! I have posted a link to a list of all the SEC tournament champions to remind them that they are the only former member with zero tourney championships.

The selection committee has made it a pt to punish teams who schedule poorly. If they're near. 500 in conference play they're in trouble

Yeah, they need to prove themselves in the SEC. Going .500 would put them at 21-9 going into the conference tournament and, given their terrible schedule, that surely wouldn't get them in without a run to the SEC championship game (24-10, they'd maybe make it). My guess, they need to go 11-7 and win one SEC tournament game to feel comfortable going into Selection Sunday.
