Was it the assistants that he had that made the team successful. Hood, Clink, Sumrall, House, Leblanc. That’s a lot of coaching talent that the program has lost and it seems that the defense hasn’t been as good since those guys all left the program.

Also losing coach Schlarman (RIP) was a huge hit to the team, on both sides of the ball. That man just oozed confidence and energy even when the rest of us would’ve been unable to get out of bed. The team certainly hasn’t been the same since he passed away.

I appreciate Stoops and what he’s done as the head coach here, but was it more lightning striking with great staff hires early on? I think so.

You have to be able to attract and then replace coaches when others move on and it’s painfully obvious, at least to me, that Stoops has been unable to do that.
