Is it possible to critique Calipari here?

Lol you have no valid point to make.

Look around guy I've made my point. Actually, you have no point except staring at a wall all day screaming 4 final fours. You've got nothing to offer past a pumpers point. We've got nothing more to talk about. Just say the answer to the thread is no, you can't criticize him, and save yourself time.

You made my point o Goodwin. As to the other comment, do you really believe cal would bench a borderline 1st round, 5 star prospect for a juco dead eye screen shooter? Honestly, like you, I'd be suprised if you actually believed that.

As to your question, I have no idea anymore why he recruits juco's. It's a mystery to me all together.

Practice?

If we go back in time, Murray wasn't on the radar when he took Mulder, he knew Matthews wasn't a shooter so I thinking he needs shooters and Mulder was that in juco.

That right there should have been more than enough signs something's wrong. There are hundreds of recruits every year. Even 4 star shooters:scream:. Why are we recruiting like we can't take one?

I want my college guards well rounded, not one dimensional. And honestly, it's why coach K won 2 championships in 5 years. We are both talented, but he had guards(and forwards) who could hit shots in the big games. It's also the reason cal isn't sitting on more than one.

I'm saying the same things over and over. I'm getting blasted with quotes so I'm gonna back out slowly. You guys have a good one

You can't really say anything about the almighty cal around here without being clowned on. Fact remains it would have been REALLY hard not to win the title in 2010 and last year ... and we managed to lose.
Think of what kind of nba team you could have by combining those two squads together...amazing neither one of this won a college championship

No coach in the country is better than Cal at recruiting, we all know this. He's one of the best when it comes to managing egos, marketing the program, public relations, etc etc.

But as a game day X's and O's coach, he is average at best. He rarely adjusts his strategy in game. Zone defense and set offensive plays are a rarity. If our guys can't beat them one on one, then we get results like last night.

You don't understand basketball at all, you don't know how to assess other teams talent levels, and you're a homer, that's why you freak out and are so shocked everytime we lose..but critique all you want, you must enjoy making yourself look like an ass, on ignore with cut-nets you go.

I'm a homer that acts like cut-nets. You've got it together.

Go cry on mamma's teet. I was mean to cal.

FWIW I'm not sure this is a miss just yet. We have been so spoiled by great players here the past 6 seasons that we feel like freshman are supposed to come in and immediately perform. When it doesn't happen, we feel what the heck is going on. It could be that Skal is just on a normal freshman learning curve. Or maybe longer.

That's true. Skal might end up legit on some ways. I shouldn't write him off.

Booker and Lamb weren't on the 2010 team. Booker would have looked pretty good on the court during the three shot clock violations.

If you're talking about the Whisky game, he had 6 points no 3 pt attempts and 3 fouls. Defensively he and Ulis were getting abused with the picks. Lyles also picked a bad time to not have a good game. It's easy to say now that it would be a good idea but at the time of the game, I wouldn't have had him in the game at that point.

I wonder if we are missing Coach Antigua more than we realize? How involved in recruit/player evaluation was he? Seems like he was very involved if my memory serves.
I'm not quite ready to call Skal a bust but, he is certainly a project. If he continues like he has, whatever NBA stock he has will be completely gone by the end of the season.
Don't forget that Wynyard is almost a complete unknown as well. Didn't Cal watch him play ONCE...and then offered him a scholly? Now, he may turn out to be a world-beater but, that's living on the edge when you take a chance on a kid you've only seen once.

This team just seems like it's primarily comprised of role players who can't perform in the spotlight. Nothing wrong with being a role player, some have had great NBA careers as defensive specialists or three-point gunners. But, you can't have ALL role players, you have to have a few stars. We have none in the paint and only Ulis on the perimeter. Sometimes Murray plays well but, seems very inconsistent.

Exactly. There's no way Booker should have been on the court.

Right players on the court and bad coaching by cal.

My point was that Cal HAS recruited shooters.

As far as 2010 is concerned, maybe he felt Meeks was coming back

He had that in Wiltjer but burned him at the stake over defense. Briscoe is an excellent defender that can't make a shot to save his life. Wiltjer is an excellent shooter who can't defend. Why does Wiltjer get burned at the stake and Briscoe doesn't?
Get off the Wiltjer kick dude. He transferred to be with his girlfriend. Plain and simple. They lived together on University Street.

Of course missing a wide open shot to beat Robert Morris may have influenced his decision to stay or go with his girlfriend. Not
