I continue to read for the last two weeks how all our players heading into the NBA draft have added all this muscle. Decreased their body fat. Have become so much quicker and faster. Have been hitting every 3 point shot they take. How they have improved their verticals by a lot. My question is this all HYPE for the draft or were we short changed while they were players at UK? Everyday I read something about Willie ,Karl Devin,Dakari, and Trey saying they are so much better now than they were in April. How can that be??

They're doing these things in workouts and scrimmages. Real-game pressure changes things a bit.

Lol, short-changed?

How about 19-21 year old athletes continue to get stronger, faster, etc. with proper training and nutrition.

Would you expect them to be less physically fit after 10 solid weeks of world class conditioning?

Basketball as their life is why. There are no class times and hanging out with friend....this is Basketball 24/7. No time restrictions like in college. Their bodies have never went through this consistent of training and it is starting to show improvement.

Exactly...these guys drain 24ft jump shots all day long in practice and workouts, it's very common.

I remember going to one of my first NBA games and watching Kendall Gill warm up...he stood around the sideline 3pt line and literally swished about 97 straight shots...then goes like 2-14 in the game.

I watched Kobe hit everything in warmup one night and then he went for 58 so... :sunglasses:

Look how much they improve from November till March, in a season. Imagine if they didn't have to go to class and have the NCAA rules on how many hours a week that they can practice. Now that they are focusing strictly on basketball and conditioning, it is not surprising that they are making big improvements, plus, they are all underclassmen, they are naturally getting more mature. The focusing on nothing but basketball is just quickening the process.

They were worn out by the end of the season. Having a bit of a break before all of this started back up probably helped too.

EJ Floreal can jump out the gym. His verticle is crazy but that doesn't mean he is a better basketball player

Remember the guy in the 90s at the nfl combine and leading up to the draft, Tony mandarich, he was a freak athlete . Strength , agility quickness ect......don't always make you a great ball player.

Look at dakari , he has put in a lot of work since his freshman season. He definitely is quicker and looks in better shape. But his freshman year he seemed better down low and was hard to push around.

The one over the last few years that has really added muscle and strength is AD. You can't tell his body has changed. He has put in some major work to get bigger

If I am going for a job that pays this kind of money, you better believe that I saying that I'm getting faster, smarter, quicker, and better shooter then I ever was before. Yep that's my story and I'm sticking with it. Now make me a lottery pick.

Their is no limits on how long a player can practice. Their is a limit of 20 hrs of practice with a coach their. A player can work on his game as long as he wants too during the week. That's why Cal was getting on Wiltcher for not putting in any extra time.

Steroids made Tony Mandarich. He was average at best.
