Is Cal going to have the great recruiting class

that he was expecting. I trust his recruiting but in the back of my mind things are not going as planned.

Who among our early commits do you have a problem with?

What prospect is the back of your mind telling you we will miss on?

Things are not going as planned? It's November 5th and he already has two players committed (Gabriel & SKJ), and soon to be a third (Fox). I'd venture to say that things couldn't be going much better than what they are.

Hoodro, you must have missed it. Cal laid out his blue print for his recruiting 2016 on Coachcal.com. He has all of his tidbits hand written on Bounty napkins that Mrs. Cal uses to clean up wine spills. You see insight of what his plan is and a short list of all his goals. It was back in August. Not sure if Cal took it down or not.

If we get both Fox & Monk, like it's looking we will, we'll have two top 5's, a top 15, and a top 25. Right on par with every Cal class. The possibility exists for any of Bolden, Allen, Abedayo, Simmons, Alkins, and/or potentially a reclassifyer or foreign player; a la next year's Jamal Murray. (Giles is still a long shot, but stranger things have happened)

Put simply, it's WAY too early to say how this class will turn out but worst case scenario, it's still a top 3 class.

Having Calipari and staff (including Sandy Bell) at UK has eased my mind with regards to BB recruiting...I think he's got a pretty good handle on it.

LOL the OP has to , and I mean has to be a troll. This class has started as good , if not better , then any Cal class. Usually around NOv 1st we have 1-none commitments but already we have a top 10 SF in Gabriel , a top 25 PF in SKJ and are about to get a commitment for a top 3 player in Fox. Monk , the best guard in the class is a huge SG lean and we have guys like Simmons and Allen who are top 15 players who could very easily end up at UK. Also Cal , despite common sense, isn't giving up on beasts like Giles or Bam. Yeah total troll OP.

This post infuriates me. We ALREADY have Gabriel and SKJ. We are in the hunt for a ton of guys and Cal has ALWAYS delivered - yet you say in "your mind" things aren't going as planned. You have no clue, neither do I.

When posts like this are made, the poster has become spoiled and does not realize the exceptional run UK has been on and is on - sit back, relax and enjoy it. Trust our Coach, he has more than earned that.

Yeah worried about Cal's recruiting. Top 15-20 player is delaying a Fall commit anywhere to wait and see if UK gets involved which is his dream school. Kobi Simmons, I would say that is a pretty big stick to swing. I mean Cal is convincing top players to hold off because they want to be here no matter who we bring in. I would say not many coaches or teams can do this.
IMO

Did last year not teach us anything?Recruiting had fallen apart,we were going to have a terrible class We couldn't sign anybody. By the skin of his teeth Cal threw a fair class together, right?:)

That is nice of you to give him a pity like.
Only until i take it back at the end of the day

This time last year we had Matthews and Briscoe, I believe.

And we were supposedly all in for Newman, Brown, Diallo, and Zimmerman.

Crazy that we missed on all those so called "must gets" and still ended up with the top class.

Just Crazy!

Nope, just Matthews. Skal and Briscoe announced at the same time though.

This thread has to be a joke, right? With the way things are going? Do you think recruiting is not going well? I don't understand. It seems our recruiting is looking like a class that is as strong as ever. We have Jones and Gabriel already on board. Gabriel is a top 25 player in a strong class. That kid has as much potential as any kid in this class, including guys like Giles and Jackson. When Gabriel hits his prime, he is going to be a nightmare to guard and a total mismatch. Jones is a kid that has a ton of potential as well. When you have a guy at that size that can shoot as well as this kid, you have a lot to work with. He might not be the Davis/Cousins elite big we usually bring in, but i really like this kid's game and truely believe he will leave here and be in the NBA for many years to come. We lead for guys like Fox and Monk. Those two kids are top 10 players in the entire country. Every school in the nation are recruiting those guys. How can you not like the way our recruiting is going? In what world does this potential recruiting class not an elite type of class? We may not get Giles, but that doesn't mean we can't be fighting for the top class overall with the guys we're leading for and are after. It's not over yet and things are looking aweasome in the recruiting world. You just need to pay more attention i guess.

I made the mistake of being really worried last spring while we were missing on guys like Diallo, Brown, and that guy that went to Purdue. Then Duke got Ingram and Thornton reclassified. It was looking dicey. Next thing you know we have the best class again (yes it's better than Duke's after we got Murray and Humphries).

This is the exact reason so many should never worry when it comes to Cal and recruiting. The man is the best in the game and even when it looks like things can't go his way, he finds away to turn things around and ends up with kids just as good if not better than the guys he lost to another school. It's crazy how this seems to happen every single year and yet some worry themselves to death over it. I know it's likely that there will be a year that is not the typical Cal type of class, but this year wont be it.

Matt Jones is doing a Periscope session at 9:30p tonight -- and says he'll give an update on recruiting.

I'm not able to watch -- but if someone is -- perhaps they could provide a couple of updates here?
