Interesting list of schools interested in Perry!

If he wants to play next year Western is the only option on that list (which I don't totally believe).

He's not an SEC level athlete. Maybe he can play at Vandy, Iowa and Maryland are decent options. He's not playing significant minutes at any of the other options.

That's weird, I could've sworn I've seen from multiple sources that Cincinatti and Xavier were 2 of the frontrunners, but they aren't even mentioned here...

It would be sacrilege for a KY boy to end up at UT. I'd have a hard time ever caring about him if he made that move.

Same goes for UL, Arkansas or even Vanderbilt. The rest wouldn't bother me, but I think he'd thrive as a star at Western and still keep his KY fan love intact.

If this list is indeed true, very interesting:

Assuming his agent isn't BSing (a BIG if):

Ole Miss
Vandy
Iowa
Western
(Maybe) South Carolina

Those are the places that give him the best shot and might use him properly. The rest would be pretty bad and he'd be buried on the bench.

Another poster said this, but Cal is absolutely trolling if he expressed any interest at all.

I think Murray and Vanderbilt are good options for him. He could star on a Murray State team and be in his home area.
He could get clock at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has a very capable coach and he very seldom brings in a haul of 4 and 5 stars . Perry could develop and play in the SEC. Again, just 2 hours from home.

Arkansas, Louisville, or Tennessee and Travis Perry is dead to me.
Arkansas , Louisville , Tennessee , or any of the SEC teams and let him play against us next year and our guys will have a field day. I just think that these agents throw out some BS when they list the schools that are interested in their client. They're trying to drum up the $.

If he wants to be a star, he needs to play for the Tops. The game will seem slower and less physical for him playing in C-USA. And WKU has a long tradition of Kentucky boys finding success (Haskins, MDaniels, Horn, Sparks, etc.).

I would add Missouri to the list. They were recruiting him pretty hard his SR year.

If he wants to play a lot right now, he needs to go to Western.

Or the people that were dogging this kid for the last nine months are a joke.

He’s likely to go to Ole Miss and become the next Sean Pedulia. But I guess Chris Beard is just lying when he gushes over him all the time.

Let’s face it BBN. We treated one of our own poorly and now he’s getting recruited by half of our conference.
Shut up....nobody treated him poorly. Completely asinine comment.

You got to love agents

Arkansas is just Cal trolling IF Arky has shown interest. LOL!

Agent be working it!
Yeah.... remember this list is put out by his agent.

Not exactly a beacon of absolute honor and dignity. Doubt the agent would pass a lie detector test on this one.

His job is to get as much money for his client (and himself) by any means nessacary..... so let me just say "This list may not be entirely accurate" IMHO

"treated one of our own poorly" feels strong.

The kid struggled. It's ok to talk about it. I'm sure some people were over the top. But that has nothing to do with why the kid is leaving.

He wants to play. He wants more NIL. I'm never going to believe he even reads Rafters, let alone what BigBlueTed writes on here (no offense if there is an actual BigBlueTed, I just made that up).

I hope he gets to the level of Pedulla before he graduates because he seems like a good kid but he wasn't in the same stratosphere to being that this year.

He should go to Sam Houston State, light up the likes of Kennesaw State and Florida International to the tune of 41 percent from 3, and next April people will be treating him like the next "Must Have" signee, along the lines of Lamar "The Man" Wilkerson...

This is just me, I'm in my late 50s now but I was born in Kentucky and been a fan my entire life. I would rather be a walk on or water boy or the 15 th player on the bench for Kentucky than to be an All American anywhere else. Wearing the Kentucky jersey is worth more than NIL from another team to me.
I'm 37. I feel the same way.

But I also realize: My only debt is the mortgage. I have a good job that I don't worry about ever being able to pay the bills.

These kids, the end of the bench and walk on types, they don't have NBA futures. They don't know what their future earning ability will look like. These 4 years will be the most money they ever make in most instances.

People went crazy whenever he got in and hit a shot, how was he treated poorly? If it’s just social media nonsense, every single player deals with that and it’s amplified in this era. It’ll be no different for him at any other big school. Right or wrong, it’s part of the game for these guys. If his family is that worked up, I get it, but this seems like a “grass is greener on the other side” mentality.

Do you really see him thriving under Beard? I just don’t see that combo meshing together.

I don't think we really treated him poorly. I think it's just business.

Sure he gets trashed here all the time. But Rafters counts for almost spit on a good day in the scheme of things. At Rupp (I think I went to eight games last season) they go into spasms of joy any time he sets foot on the court. And as far as the coaching staff goes, they played him way more and way more critically than you would expect an average freshman to play, especially one ranked in the seventies. Part of that was injuries but they actually kept trying to play him about that much even before the injuries, they just had to keep backing off it for the first three months of the season because he wasn't getting it.

I think his transferring is mostly business, but probably a decent bit ego driven as well. Being literally the most successful player ever in the history of Kentucky high school basketball. And looking at the number of minutes he'd realistically stand to play in his sophomore year here. Not easy on a twenty-year-old's psyche. I don't think he blames us at all. And I don't blame him at all and wish him the best. Still would have been far better for both parties imo if he'd stayed but that's water under the bridge now.

Man, I didn't see anyone being out of line, or insulting to TP at all.
It's not wrong to call a spade, a spade. TP just doesn't have the size, or athleticism, right now, to compete in the SEC. It's just the truth, not an insult.
I think even Travis himself would admit that.

I think it will take time, but yes, I think he can be very good
