When injuries happen we usually think that they could "hurt us" long term. In hindsight, the only game where injuries cost us a game was probably the Texas A&M game. If WIllis or Poythress is able to play in the second half we likely win.
BUT....
If we hadn't had the injuries we've had we wouldn't have WIllis starting. We don't have a legit 7'0 in Humphries playing important minutes. We likely don't have faith in Hawkins to come off of the bench in the event that a guard gets in foul trouble.
Basically, what's happened is.... We've gone from a team with very little roster flexibility, no true center, and no real guard depth to a team with 5 legitimate options at the 4/5 spots and 4 or 5 players to play the 1, 2, and 3 spots. With Poythress coming back and the emergence of Humphries I think we will see willis at the 3 some when he comes back.
So, we go from a team that is 7 deep to the second deepest team from the cal era with 9 guys we can count on in Ullis, Murray, Briscoe, Willis, Lee, Poythress, Hawkins, Skal and Humphries.
