Injuries Beat Us

Injuries hurt us some during the season. Pope did a great job with getting the team through that. But going into last night, we knew what we had. We let UT out-rebound us badly. They had 14 offensive rebounds and 7 more shots than us. Grab the rebounds and limit their second chance points and we still have a chance, even with injuries and poor 3 pt shooting.

Rebounds killed us.

Jaxon could have hit 3s and Kerr played defense on a broken whatever against Gonzagga.. Stupid take. Jaxon hit 17 against them in the game in TN. People say I don't have eyes. First half Carr and Butler avoided contact. Also I forgot Amari hurt his back a week before as well. They all avoided contact due to injuries. Second half it was a different story but yeah first half they outrebounded us and outhustle us. Playing a team 3 x with realistically being more banged up than ever is going to catch up to you.

Possibly. The problem with both those guys is they are spot up shooters. The whole team really although Brea prob the most improved with creating and he was locked down.

Whatever happened in the past was basically irrelevant to yesterday’s game besides giving UT motivation to not lose 3 in a row.

Injuries affe ted our seeding but even 100% we don't beat UTjr yesterday they were on unlike the 2 times we played during year when they were cold. Even healthy wouldn't of helped the fact we couldn't rebound . All the 2nd chsnce points and ut hitting from 3 better than they had wouldn't of mattered if we had Jax n Krissa or not or even if Butler was 100 %.

Everyone here seems to think pgvis our biggest concern ....... NO REBOUNDING is our #1 issue to address. We need guys who can get defensive rebounds. Simple as that
Rebounding was our problem from game 1.

Just a terrible rebounding team.

Not one good rebounder on the roster. Maybe Noah?

But he didn’t play enough to make a difference.

TN had someone as good as Robinson out?? None of them players who were out for season was equal to Robinson. Having 9 players. Butler in the first half was avoiding contact due to injury. Carr's back was back to being bad and was avoiding contact. Perry shooting hands was hurt and scored 8 last game without Robinson
They lost a 6'6 guard earlier in the year that they could really use. If Cameron Carr had not got hurt they most definitely would have been using his athleticism, length, and points.
He was ranked in the top 50 by many different rankings.
They also lost a very promising big man at the first of the year JP Estrella.
If they had both of those guys right now I would say they would be championship game bound.
Definitely would have had a #1 seed if they had them both all year.

Both our Kentucky boys scored in one game against TN. Robinson scored 17 in the other. They didn't run us out of gym. Ole Miss, Alabama, Ohio State did. Outrebounded and out hustled yes. Beating someone by 10-13 compared to 20-30. Um nope.
They maybe did not run us out of the gym but we were NEVER close to winning the game. It was a 13 to 19 point game for over 25 minutes of the 40 minutes played. It was a pretty good ass kicking that should motivate us for next year. Assuming we have kids back from this team next year. With NIL we could have departures as easily as anyother team. Recruiting is now two fold. Pope must recruit current players with eligibly and new kids currently in HS or portal.

If they didn't run us out the gym they for sure hurried our a$$es along to get up out that gym. Maybe a steady jogging us out the gym.
