In honor of this terribly inconvenient joke-day, and the likelihood that it is going to a relatively quiet day in the portal (reverse jinx), let's touch base on the incoming trio of talent.
McDonald's All-American game tonight at 9pm est, and we get to see Moreno suit up for the East. They were running him and Bigger Boozer on opposite shifts, which I wanted to seem them play at the same time to compare size, speed, etc.
Jasper Johnson, just on the outside looking in for this All-Star game, but will join Moreno on April 12th to play in the Nike Hoop Summit. I don't totally disregard the value of watching these All-Star games for the purpose of seeing size, speed, stature and poise/personality. Who doesn't like their guy to have a good performance? Of course we want to see production, but as is noted- its a pickup game. For Johnson, I'm interested to see how he moves and looks against his peer set. Specifically, I'd like to see a quick first step and some burst against whomever is guarding him.
In terms of Acaden Lewis, love his style of play and think its a fantastic fit for our offense. Tall enough, stout enough, shoots well enough- but love how he sees the floor and plays under control. Think he presents that under control style of play - control tempo- like Butler and Ulis.
Here is highlight footage of each. Interested to unpack these three's potential roles on the upcoming season.
