In state 2026 4* rb evan hampton commits to louisville

Stale Stoops.
Hope he can turn this sinking ship around.
This is his last year to prove to the fans that the program is not currently dying a slow death under his watch.

HS recruiting has become less and less important as the transfer portal has gained. Certainly, the best teams build from both, but missing out on a '4-star in-state RB' right now might be a big miss or we have other/better RB in our sights or he'll transfer a couple of years from now anyway, so why bother?

My opinion is it's more critical to get homegrown linemen and QBs than skill positions. There will always be good skill position players looking for a payday/better system. Developing linemen and a QB or two who has learned and practiced the system for years, imo, is a lot more important than a RB or WR. That's assuming, of course, that the RB isn't Derrick Henry and the WR isn't Jamaar Chase, of course.

According to insiders, UK didn’t recruit him. They did recruit the WR from Louisville, that also committed to UL. Don’t see anything here to worry about
When the #1 in state kid commits this early to your main rival it's time to worry don't kid yourself

Then why didn’t UK recruit him? On And UL is not UKs main rival. That’s a crazy mind set IMO. We will never compete with UGA, UT, UF, etc if that is the type of player that breaks a recruiting class. The #1 player in KY for this class is Harbin. He is a Louisville kid and committed to Louisville.

We've been worried about the quality of in-state talent for a long time. This won't change anything.

UK had a better running back committed from Cleveland up until the week before Signing Day, and they will continue to go after comparable and better running backs from Ohio and other places. The portal is going to be the best place to target running backs now anyway because few players actually stick around long enough to develop after enrolling as a freshman anyway.

We probably would have spent 2+ years developing him, and then he would have transferred to WKU. Time will tell, but not looking like a huge loss despite the #1 player in Kentucky title. It doesn't matter when the talent for the rest of the class isn't SEC-caliber anyway.
