In Case Any Of Calipari’s Players Pop By Here . . .

UK is the only college basketball program to win a national title under 5 different head coaches

It’s the culture the clown created here. Players, NBA, and Cal first, University and fanbase dead last. Very few of his players gave a crap about UK. That’s one reason I never followed their career after they left here.

Luckily there are plenty left that were here before Cal, and we’ve had the perfect hire to restore the culture of Kentucky basketball.

You can see it on this message board every day just how much of a disease Cal Culture was, there are people constantly posting here still talking about draft status, the NBA, 5 star prospects/recruiting, and a sense of doom about “reloading” a roster every year.

Reed sure could put a stake in the vampire heart of Cal Culture by remaining at Kentucky.

They'll be back. And it'll probably take less time than you think. Emotions are still strong right now. They're just loyal to their coach, just like Pope was with Pitino.

Educated mature dudes will understand you can both support your coach and your school even when they are no longer the same place. I don’t think anyone is forcing a choice. Hopefully most of them understand that fact. Regardless let’s go Coach Pope. Exciting to be able to be excited again!!!

Five sober ones in a row. Pope's odds look good to me.

Yeah, I know Calipari didn't spend much time instilling what Mark Pope was talking about in his introduction today. He mostly taught guys to play for NBA draft status, the name on the back of the jersey. Playing for UK was secondary. If they happened to do something for UK in the process of being a first round pick, the that was gravy. If not they still got what they needed out of UK. I'm glad that is over. Pope isn't going to allow ingratitude from his players. This is seen as a privilege. I sincerely hope he will be successful at UK, not just for the university or for BBN, but because I want that for him. His speech today brought tears to my eyes a couple times, I gotta admit.

Calipari is what he is. He's not a UK guy, never was. He's a salesman, maybe one of the best recruiters ever in the game. But he's not a great basketball coach. And he will never be a great ambassador for UK because he left in shame, and his ego won't allow it. It is what it is. I expect his players and recruits, with the exception of at least 1, to leave Kentucky. I don't think they'll all follow him because it's Fayetteville, Arkansas. They're calling the Hogs. Some won't go for that. But they'll likely leave anyway. I'll be shocked if we keep very many. I'll never expect and Cal player to compliment UK. That's his legacy for Kentucky, unfortunately.

They'll be loyal to Cal, and honestly they should be as he was very loyal to them.

But think about it, how much did we see his Memphis guys or celebrate them at all? The same thing will happen at Arkansas with the UK guys. After a few years we'll start seeing them as the Y every now and then, just attending home games. The Final Four teams will get honored.

A ton of them are still playing basketball and don't have time for the college fandom thing.
