Im not excited about another gator bowl

It’s Kentucky Football lol, be realistic. We may be competitive now but we haven’t been able to recruit well enough for a sustained period of time to not feel losing all those starters in the secondary, dline, and oline. The program is still being built and even being in the conversation for a 10-3, 11-2 season more than once every 20 years should remain an exciting prospect to all fans.

Or whatever the Outback is now. UT is a must win to salvage the season and make it memorable. It’s the only path to a ny6.

I can't stand some of your fickle fans. We're still in play for the East and Georgia doesn't look that good right now. We just lost a Top 15 SEC game ON THE ROAD and looked like the better team.

Salvage? We control our own destiny.
I was reacting to the article. But since you mention it yeah salvage. Do expect our oline and secondary to be fixed along with our kicking game? There are too many deficiencies to overcome in order to make the sec title game. I think we have a better shot than most give us credit to beat UT but UT is surging.

Still a lot of ball left to be played. We're going to blast Carolina on Saturday.

Blasting Carolina isn't a big deal. Beating tn and winning out to finish 10 and 2 would be. We win the next 2 and get healthy heading into the bye. All we can do.

Mississippi State concerns me. They can put up some serious points. I know we usually win when we play here but they don't feel like a gimme this year.

Can’t believe I’m starting to sound like HH, but here goes. We are competitive in every game, or should be, from here on out. I’ve never felt we were before, period. Will we drop one or two more? Probably, at least one. That’s still a damn good season. For anyone in the SEC not named Bama or Georgia. Can’t we just enjoy the process without trying to rush it? I don’t know, maybe I’m thinking bassakwards. But I’m still super excited with where the program is compared to where it was 5 years ago. It’s still trending upward, slowly, but upward. When it’s down trending, I’ll worry.

I’m 59, and have witnessed only two or three brief stretches of time where we were truly competitive.

Is the Gator Bowl or (new) Outback in Florida suddenly beneath us? I spent decades envying teams in Florida bowls when we sat at home “with the best 5 win team in the country.”

If the Gator is our fate, I’ll be there!!

Right of course. We're very competitive in the top half of the SEC. Just had one of those roof caved in/bottom fell out kind of situation. We've won a few of these type games, and have a good record in the close ones. Maybe we were due for a bit of bad luck.

I'll never get to the point I complain about us having an 8 or 9 win season. I'll offer criticism when it's warranted when we lose and have issues, but I'm in my 30s and my first real memories are of Bill Curry onwards. Doesn't mean we don't push for more but I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water either.

We have had 12 seasons since WWII with 8 or more wins!

It might be a while before I can yawn at that level of accomplishment.

5/12 since 2006. That is 5 in 15 prior seasons as opposed to 7 in like 60 years prior. Modern UK football has come a long way thanks to Brooks and Stoops for sure. It's a lot harder to go from where we were to winning sec titles and making the playoff. All they can do is keep building and with a 12 team playoff the chances of making it are obviously a lot better a few times every 10 years.

Keep building is spot on. And we are.

The better team does not blow the last 3 possessions of the game!

These are good years. Got news for ya, we're not UGA or Alabama and we never will be.

Some will get butt hurt over this but it's true. That doesn't mean we can't ever make the playoff when it goes to 12 teams (far more likely than ever winning the SEC IMO) but playing in the SEC with so many football giants makes it hard.

And other than Alabama, it's hard to win national titles. Their run the last 15 years will never happen again for any college team the rest of this century and probably not ever.

So. Go pull for those teams.
Because im honest? Dont be bitter, its called perspective.
You still have pipe dreams that Stoops is going to start out-recruiting Nick Saban and Kirby Smart? Or you think we're going to start beating them with getting transfers? Nothing wrong with what we're going now, its great, but you should know we have limitations. We cant even fill Kroger field most games and our stadium is one of the smallest.

I agree with you and apparently a lot of fans here weren't around during the Bill Curry or even Joker days when 5 wins wasn't even a reality. I remember when you went into the WKU or Vandy games worried we would lose. Are we on the level of Bama, OH St or Clemson yet? No but we are light years ahead of where we have been.

I went to games in Curci later years.
I know bad Kentucky football.
But seasons like this don't present themselves very often.
We have seniors. playmakers, depth, and a favorable schedule.
If we don't get to an NY6 bowl because of this offensive line, I will be disappointed.
Doesn't mean I won't watch Citrus bowl or demand coaching changes or still not appreciate 9-3.

I don't see how thinking we should have beat an Ole Miss team that didn't even play that well means we are expecting UK to be Alabama.

Get out of here you. Other teams lose players all the time we have more talent than ever before the only loss we have had is JS that has not been overcome yet

Both GA and AL will have bad years. VERY, VERY SELDOM but it happens. You’re right that we’ll have a tough time doing much better than these past few years but we’ll have a chance if we keep on diggin’. BBN sure deserves it.

Until every UK fans says if we don’t beat UT then it’s someone’s fault, we will always be a also ran. Football schools in the SEC expect wins period and they blame someone. Sure it’s wrong but this is football in the South. If you don’t have great expectations for your team and quit making excuses when you lose these big games nothing will ever change.

Many don’t want to hear this and many think UK will become a power like Georgia but it takes more than talk. Think about this by looking into the future. Does anyone think Bama, Georgia, LSU, or Oklahoma will not be a title contender in 2030, or 2040, or whenever. They may have a bad year now and then but their fans demand winning football, no excuses. If and when UK has that mindset then UK moves into the upper echalons of the SEC.

Perception is realty and even though UK was 7 th ranked, against a team they should have beaten, they were still the underdog. The perception is that UK will lose which they did.. Perception became reality. It takes decades , yes, decades of winning football to change this perception and Stoops is well on the way of doing it but someday he will leave or retire. Then what happens?

Talk about getting spoiled quickly. We're ranked in the top 20. That's a place we've barely ever been in our history.

The low point for me was Bill Curry and losing 73-7 to Florida. At least with Joker Phillips and getting pummeled at home in an empty stadium to Vanderbilt we knew he was done.

People not wanting to go to another Gator Bowl or whatever say this because we've now been there and done that sort of thing with consistency over our last 4 bowl games...we want to progress to the next step, we want to see Kentucky Football do what everyone says in impossible.

Kentucky has not reached it's full potential in football.

Curry 3 up the middle and punt. He's the reason I started drinking.

I'm excited for a bowl game anytime, for long suffering fans of the program any bowl game is good. Beat Mississippi State and Tennessee and it will be a good bowl game assuming we win the others. Georgia looked like a beatable team against Missouri, they have Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi State before us and we get them at home. They don't look as dominating as last year, even if we lose to them and win the rest it would be a very good bowl game.

I remember when folks said we would never be competitive with Florida even if we beat them some years. Guess what, we're a better program than Florida rn. Maybe don't have the history but been better than them the last 5 years, but lost 2. Alabama is at the top but other than that, UK can reach any of the other levels. Georgia has not been on Alabama or even Florida's level until recently. UK can absolutely be as good a program as any of them.

I just don't get stupid posts like this. We've lost 1 game. On the road. And beat ourselves. Get a f'ing grip.

Hopefully what he's accomplished will hold steady Stoops has changed the culture UK football. My question is has he changed the perception of the job After Stoops is done will it be considered a top 20 spot.

I don't think we got enough NIL dollars right now to compete with Georgia, Alabama, Ohio St and some of the other top programs out there.
