I like the league being tough and every game being a challenge. It prepares you for the toughness of the NCAA tournament.
I'm hoping some of the elite coaches leave the SEC.

Mark Pope is a smart coach. He will begin to build this program with returning players that gain experience with multiple seasons here.
I am beyond impressed with how this team has played cobbled together completely from the portal. Coach Pope will win big here once he has the opportunity to build a roster with returnees, select portal pieces and Kentucky caliber recruits.
Nate Oats is the flavor of the month and looks like an NBA coach next season. Let us know when Bruce Pearl wins anything and Hurley is the biggest asshole in college basketball. We got lucky BBN, enjoy the ride.

I agreed with you until you had to convince us (and yourself) by talking down some of the other good coaches in the sport. A
It's too early to say that. You can't make any grand proclamations in year 1, when the league is better than it's ever been.
I've often made the claim that there's no sense trying to play the toughest schedule. I want the SEC to be conpetitive.. but we don't really need it to be THIS good.
I want it just how it is or even higher level. That potency drives fan buzz, which drives TV ratings, which both drive recruiting buzz. Which in turn all drives corporate NIL interest, which in turn will drive even more recruiting. Which will lead to even more potency. All in addition to keeping good win opportunities coming down the pike for us to boost our seeding as much as we want it and can handle it, which should be always.

It is related to the amount of money the school’s have to pay coaches and NIL. The only other conference close would be the B1G10.
This year has been so much fun from a CBB fandom standpoint, I can’t imagine wanting it to get worse. With that said the conference is so good this year it pretty much has to drop off next year, which could still mean 11-12 teams in the tournament.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best. We are fine and I love the tough teams every game. It makes it much more enjoyable as a fan versus beating up cupcakes. Our team is down a bit right now but not out.
I think the SEC will be very strong in the tournament. Let’s see what kind of draw we get in the tournament. It could be that this season prepared us for a run!

You’re right. I’m just needlessly defending Coach Pope’s hire.
What a weak strawman response. After about 5 years of Pope navigating through seven or eight elite coaches every year in the SEC, I'll return to this post and see if you feel the same way.
And leave the Lord out of this. He doesn't give a crap about basketball unless the players involved grow closer to him as a result.

Hope you're right but I'm pretty sure you were one of Cal's fanboys, who defended him until the very end. A lot of us saw Cal's shortcomings even before things got really bad and some defended him until it was over. I see some shortcomings with Pope such as he seems to have a poor feel for in game coaching as he relies too much on analytics and not what's actually happening on the court, waits too long to call timeouts during the other teams run, appears to be too nice and may be why we're so effective against the good teams and play down to the bad teams and also why we're not getting a good whistle because he's too nice to the refs. Coaches like Oats and Pearl stay on the refs the whole game. Pope just stands there stoically. I'd like to see a lil fire.
We'll see if Pope adjusts or chooses to turn a blind eye like Cal did and we run him out of town too. He seems humble enough to change unlike Cal, who acted like he was the Godfather of college basketball.
How is it a "handicap" to have 7 or 8 very good teams instead of 11 or 12?
Were you opposed to UK beating SEC teams by an average of 23 points per game back in 1996? Did you write Coach Pitino and demand that the SEC become a better overall conference with more parity?
The biggest foes are in March, not in mid-January where you play your third straight top 15 team that beats the piss out of your point guard on the road.
Again, how did a semi-weak SEC hurt UK in 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2012?
One other thing, look at all the bubble teams we have lost to. It seems like every team on the bubble has a win over UK.
If the SEC wasn't so strong, we would already be in 6 seed range, because we keep losing to bubble teams, so having wins over teams like UT and Florida, really helps us

You may want to switch your support to the Harlem Globetrotters. Their games are fixed, but they win 'em all by a lot and that's what matters, correct?
The big knock on Rupp Arena is "the fans only get up for the big games". So, here comes the juggernaut version of the SEC and EVERY game is a big game and the atmosphere in Rupp is off the charts.
