If you think our refs were bad

Yeah there’s no grand conspiracy against UK. Refs are just bad because it’s largely a difficult job and the talent pool is very small. These guys are reffing literally seven days a week in a lot of cases with very little downtime.

"We want to make more free-throws than the other team takes!"
--- Rick Pitino

A team is prioritizing a defensive strategy that forces the opposing team to commit so many fouls that they are constantly shooting free throws, while simultaneously aiming to be so good at shooting free throws themselves that they end up scoring more free throws than the opponent even attempts.

They are calling a ton of games but another issue is kids today are bigger, faster, and much stronger than in past years. Same thing happened in football. Refs have a tough time because of these factors. A foul on a 6'11" 300 lb guy is hard to call because a 6'7" guy can knock the heck out of the big guy and he doesn't budge so no foul is called. If you watch post play, it has become WWE. An offensive big slams the defender to get down low and then they call a foul on the defender after he has had the hell beat out of him to get push under the goal. I know we complain about fouls not called when we see our guys get beat up but we have to respond by being physical also. Our defense as a whole plays soft compared to our opponents.

It's absolutely an epidemic. It's bad across the board. The thing is you don't see conferences who contract these guys do much about it. NCAA isn't going to do much because they aren't a union. So it comes down to the individual conferences to demand they be better at their jobs. Perfect example Terry Olgelsby should absolutely be publicly reprimanded for his actions last night. Completely unprofessional to step towards a coach like that and bait him. It's a lot of a good ole boy system. They face no consequences for their ineptness. Look I stand by if 18-23 guys have to go out and face questions about the game there is no reason a 50 year old man can't do it. They are absolutely protected and they act like it too.

Our offense plays soft too. We are a finesse team.

We don’t get fouled as much because don’t create contact.

We foul too much because we’re getting beat off the dribble and chasing.

There's not much they can do though. Sure, a public reprimand maybe, but they will still hire the refs. There simply aren't enough refs for the conferences to be able to do things like suspend refs or take games away from them. Remember how bad the NFL replacement refs were? It would be even worse with college refs.

They literally hold Brea 100% of the time. It is not what is called as much as what they are letting SEC defenders get away with OUTSIDE the paint.

The very last call was a phantom foul against Arizona which would have won them the game if not called.
People all the time say well 1 call wasn't why we won or lost but I don't buy that.
If that call don't happen with 2 secs left Arizona wins and BYU loses.
That said glad BYU won.

Disagree. Defender did bump the shooter tho not a hard foul. Kind of contact you would let go if not on a shot.

That is probably why the announcers said there was nothing there and was a bad call.

If that was Kentucky getting that foul called on them you would lost your mind.

Not really (as to losing my mind). If it was us instead of BYU, we would have all wanted the call as it was on the shot. Any contact on a shot is more likely than not to get a foul.

It can both be anti-UK and really shtty officiating. They aren't mutually exclusive

I always get confused when people point to ft attempts as to a bad officiated game . Missouri took 36 3s while Arkansas drove more to the basket .

It’s hard to get to the line a lot if you’re chucking up 3s
Ok then smart guy, why for the past 5 years didnt we get to the line 20 more times than our SEC opponents with Cal playing the same damn way?

I can't say I would of called that. It looks from the 2nd view small guy bumps into big guy and bounces off. Might of been a little hip bump but should of been just played out.

Your probably not wrong but some nights replacement officials couldn't be much worse.

LMAO , we literally have the perfect scientific experiment with officiating. Same coach with the same system , calls are completely different at Arkansas than they were at UK.
All I was saying is I always get confused when people point to the amount of free throws . I see it all the time in basketball .

I’m trying to figure out where is there a post of me saying Kentucky doesn’t get a bad whistle .
