I'll hang up and listen. TIA
Was not at the game, but based on another experience I had personally, I believe every word about the hostile environment in Bloomington. I have been to many away venues as a UK basketball and football fan and can honestly say that IU fans as a whole are the worst to opposing fans.
My brother and I sat in a section with IU fans beside and behind us at the Georgia Dome in the 2012 NCAA tourney. Started as we were walking in on the ramp with number of IU fans yelling at us, saying we would forfeit all our games for cheating, and one talking smack while putting his arm around my 6'5", 230 lb brother. We just kept walking and tried to ignore them!
In ours seats, the IU fans didn't just root for their team, but directed comments towards us. Never really experienced that before and have never witnessed UK fans doing it. Guy sitting next to me kept yelling for his team to punch Wiltjer in the face when he shot 3s. IU fans behind us kept directing comments at UK fans and when a UK fan spilled something refused to offer her pile of napkins because, "I'm not helping a UK fan. F.. them!"
It continued every time we would leave our seats for food or the bathroom. IU fans would flip us off or point in our faces as we were walking the aisle. And it wasn't a few isolated fans.
I came to believe that day that what UK fans claimed to happen at IU was completely believable. The IU fan base was the most angry, rude and obnoxious I've ever experienced. It's almost pathological in nature. I have seen instances of loud UK fans, irritating UK fans etc, but the thing that set IU fans apart at that game was the hostility directed at us instead of just yelling for and supporting their team.
Good thing I convinced my brother to just ignore them or he may have wooped someone's ass that day!
