If you are a Kentucky fan….

There was a lot to be encouraged by this team coming back from down 8 at the half in their 1st SEC game and in a rowdy road environment vs a much-improved Florida team.

I don't know why it still surprises me at this point, but it's still odd that some people here don't realize fans have emotional reactions in moments. Quite frankly, having some of y'all's stronger than oak faith in Cal is truly something to admire. ...but sounds a bit boring and lacking in passion. Folks, it's ok to show emotion. It's what sets BBN apart from most fan bases.
Sure is but maybe keep the sulking and impending doom until after the loss.

Things like I can’t believe we’re down to this inferior team or I hate these coaching decisions or what’s wrong with our guys they can’t make a shot land a lot better than calling coach garbage with plenty of time on the clock to left to win, and especially when we do win. 🤣🤣

I was irked too, didn't think we'd win but at least I don't have egg in my face. Cal got the ball to Reed every time at the end and let him win it at the line, well coached aside from a few things I disagreed with.

Yes and now that the game is over there is only one proper emotion to show. If that emotion is negative then that person is rooting against this team and they are bummed to see us win
You know what they say about opinions……. It’s perfectly fine to celebrate a win and discuss areas of improvement etc. Doesn’t mean they aren’t a fan for discussing shortcomings, it just means you can’t handle it.

Personally l, I’m a bit suprised they didn’t lose, but very happy. If you haven’t been to Gaturds place, it’s pretty hostile place to play. Proud of them and Shep is clutch at the end. I hope he enjoyed it, I doubt many teams will let him get the ball at the end of the game after being clutch like that.

This is the type of game many of the post-2015 teams lose. Cal and the players showed a lot of poise down the stretch. They ratcheted up in the 2nd half, and watched up again to close it out.

You have to love how they handled the 1st SEC game, a road game, and one against a near top25 opponent in Florida.. especially when it's their superbowl, and they are making circus shots all game. Wasn't perfect, I still think our lineup choices are a bit of a problem.. but you have to be excited.

Now I am gonna sound like a shill. But cal said as much when he was mic’d up in the first half. He said they can’t play any better than they are and let’s see if they can keep it up. He was right.
I thought it was pretty dumb honestly. We could’ve played better defense instead of seeing if they can keep it up. Cals statement today in the huddle like all his other comments tells me he’s not worried as much. Coach your damn team!
I guess the fan base isn’t too worried either but I see the same ol signs that will get us beat in the tournament.

How can you be anything but happy? If you are not, then I’m sure you will create something to complain about.
Other than a couple idiots that posted during the game when it looked like we might lose, who is not happy?
I think UF got lucky to get as close as we did and I loved the overall coaching game. So, speaking for myself, I only had one thing about the entire game to say that wasn't 100% positive.

That thing I did say and will stand by it, is that our best player, who is the only player we've had for a while that is clearly one of the top 10 players in the nation by almost any metric, should never play the 5th most minutes unless injury or foul trouble or lack of effort are the reason. And I'm not saying that player should play the 3 spot; I'm saying Reeves should play more at the three with Wagner or Dillingham being in with him in the backcourt more often.

Playing your best players the most minutes is not a controversial thing; it's something almost all coaches do.
When Bill Walton played at UCLA their back-up center was clearly one of the top 4 other centers in the college game. But the back-up played less than 10 mpg because Wooden wasn't dumb enough to only play Walton 25 mpg to get the other center court time. And it didn't kill the back-up's career since he still got drafted pretty high and had a successful NBA career including maybe an All-Star appearance(been a long time and I'm to lazy to look it up this moment-Swen Nader was the guy).

Little Mitchell! Little Mitchell!

Did they do that because Mitchell did the finger sign for small? I thought that was a gesture towards our players/staff for something.

I'll add something I didn't like.. this, and the Wagner "small" gestures. You don't do that on the road when your team is struggling. When DJ did that towards the end of the game, it was far too premature for that sort of trash talking.

Fascinating. And is it "proper" to start a thread after a win dedicated to attacking and other people and creating division in the fan base? We are a sports fanbase, not a mindless Borg.

I'm guessing they did yeah. I'm a bit of a shit talker myself so I can't comment too much on it. It's fun when you win and a little embarrassing when you lose but I'm a proponent of mental warefare. 🤣🤣

I'm maybe one of the BIGGEST shit talkers here lol.

But I'd have waited a little longer. Wagner did his gesture when he TIED the game, and I think Florida not only scored right after, but then Wagner turned it over on the next drive. That was the basketball Gods yanking his ass back to reality.

I didn’t attack anyone. If someone feels attacked by my OP then I think it tells their story pretty clear. We know what side of the fence they are on. As for you, if the shoe fits……

It's the hand down by the waist saying "you ain't big enough or strong enough". I hate that trash talking crap but admit it was funny when Rob did it a few games ago when he scored down low against a guy much bigger than him.

Have you seen anyone not happy with today’s win and complaining? I don’t think you have, but felt the need to start a baiting thread anyway.

I'm all for trash talking.. but you really should be winning the game when you do it. Trashing talking when you tied a supposedly "lesser" opponent.. not a great look. Wagner is lucky this didn't spark some run for Florida. That's my bigger problem here.. don't give the opponent any more fire than they already have.

Very happy to win these because this is Kentucky and we have to. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of obstacles in the way and they begin with the coach. I only care about UK keeping up as the goat program and Calipari landing his second ring. We should win these games but I hate when I watch and can clearly see areas that will more than likely send us home before a final four.

Not everyone is unhappy just to be. It’s all about what your expectations are.

We all know how important these wins are though. So I’m definitely happy to bring it in. We haven’t been winning in a while and we’re winning. Good times.
we were a four point underdog and won on the road. If you can complain about that, you don't enjoy orgasms.

Not a baiting thread. But some folks feel baited. Hmmm. My gut tells me they are dying to complain. Those that feel baited or attacked are telling on themselves. I posted this early too, like right after the game. So maybe they feel like I beat them to the punch.

Look we have had a dozen or so wins this season. There have been complainers after EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. But this win was huge. Maybe our most impactful of the year and will have big seeding implications. There should be zero bitching after this one.

We got hardly any 50/50 balls, short a valuable player, they banked shots, we even tipped 2 in for them…and we still won.
This team is tough, we are not going to be out of any game.
The last 3 Kentucky teams would have folded… they had a subpar game and won that thing.

And yet again I don’t really see anyone bitching about anything. Is the fact no one is bitching keeping you from enjoying the win all the more? Just a strange post all the way around. Not sure what your little hmmmmm, thingy is supposed to imply like you have called me out or something. Haven’t complained about win today at all. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I didn’t call anyone out. I didn’t bait anyone. This is a message board. I had something to say. If you don’t like it, bugger off. You seemed to have missed the spirit of the OP. A few people seemed upset about it. Given the nature of the post, that’s kinda weird. Or it’s telling.

Im happy the staff realized we need our best free throw shooter on the line to win this game. This wouldn’t have happened in previous seasons or even before this game. There’s someone on the staff making a difference.
ck ... I'm thrilled to death with the win at Florida ... but I'm not so sure that "the staff realized we need our best free throw shooter on the line ..." I'm willing to bet that it was Reed, himself, who made the decisions, right in the game in real time as they happened, about who would have the ball in the last minute. I'll bet it was Reed himself who "coached" DJ into the switch-pass out-of-bounds that was key to keeping the ball in Reed's hands at the end. The great thing, to me, is that the rest of the team has the confidence in Reed that it's going to take this year, if we're going to get No. 9. We'll go as far this year as the rest of this very talented team is willing to ride with Reed in the driver's seat.
Just MHO, of course. Go 'Cats ! ! !

No. I’m not. You can say a lot of things about me but I don’t suffer the Uber negative.

There hasn’t been a lot of complaining about the game. But there has been some complaining about my thread. Leads me to believe that those people may otherwise be complaining about the game.

It’s funny. The things that trigger people.

You make zero sense. No ones complaining about the game, you start a thread saying your sure someone going to complain about something pertaining to the game and every response of yours on this thread is pertaining to others unhappiness of the game that doesn’t exist except in your wishful thinking mind. Now since we are calling you out on your BS, anyone who does secretly wants to complain about the game but we can’t so we are complaining about you instead. You’re not sad, your ****ing physcho!!!!

I'm sure folks would accuse me of having stronger than oak faith in Cal, but that's not really why I'm happy today. Actually, I've been pretty miserable in the last several years, irritated with Cal and the team. I don't have a problem with folks who are upset with Cal. And I'm not happy because Cal is "proving people wrong," I'm just happy with this team. I think this team has the potential to make a Final Four or even further. I like the assistants we have right now, too, and I think our assistants have made a great impact. Cal hired those guys and was willing to change, that's about the best compliment I can give him.

All this said, it's a good day to be a UK fan for many reasons. 😀

Cal had tubby’d himself there for a while. Bad assistants and then let them hang on too long. We have a really solid staff right now.

I've always viewed Cal's strength as being able to bring people together and network. I view him more as a CEO who brings together talent and sells the program. Recruiting is going to come easy to a guy like him, he can sell things.

This isn't me saying he can't coach, I think he has shown his chops as a defensive coach. But his real skill is finding the right combination of people to get things done.

The staff under him is strong, and would you look at that it's like 2010-15 all over again.

I think his number one skill is people. That’s why he recruits so well. I imagine he always wins the living room.
