playing a 14, who could you realistically put in the 6 vs 11 slots to guarantee a high ratings/storyline matchup?

there’s many matchups that’d be great, but if you really look, the seeding doesn’t line up right for them. byu is top 15 now. so is ul. sju is top 10. indiana is out. duke would be too far ahead.

for the 11, i’m guessing unc or an sec team. for the 6, i’m guessing uconn or kansas.

what say you?

I see ucla is a 6 in JLs bracketology. So maybe them.

And trust me, if the committee wants to drop byu to a 6 to UKs 3, they can and will do it.
i was thinking on that, but it’d be a very sketchy move. i do think it’s a matchup they want. i actually don’t think it’s a bad matchup for kentucky at all. they have been the hottest offensive team recently though.

I’ve seen a lot of Michigan vs drake of Michigan vs UC San Diego in that 6vs11 game. That’s who I would want

I heard a wise man once say, "it's all about the benjamins". And make no mistake, the NCAAT viewership isn't driven by diehards, it's driven by casual fans that watch a handful of games a year, fill out a bracket for an office pool, and know a few perennial schools. Matchups and names make early views, the Cinderella stories make up views after the first weekend til the FF.

3 seed, poppy seed, mustard seed it doesn’t matter.

Just play the ****ing games. If you aren’t good enough to win then nothing matters.

Nerd numbers are for nerds.

Based on Lunardi, some of the seeds that are in the 6 range are Kansas, Michigan, Gonzaga, Uconn, Arizona, UCLA, and Louisville. ALL of those could be good stories.

The 11 being North Carolina is almost guaranteed.

I really don’t think the committee does that or cares about the ratings. The NCAA-T will get ratings without them having to manufacture any.

Louisville at 6 and San Diego State.

But also. For all the belly aching, how often does it happen.
Good chance we would play Murray State 3 years ago.
If 7-10 matchup is a much of a setup.
But then, how far back do you have to go.
Indiana and the Ulis Team? That was 9 years ago.

Seems like every year, it's just that we haven't been out of the of first round/weekend enough for it to matter this decade.

That should be reason enough to just enjoy the process instead of over scrutinizing the potential six seeds you get matched up with. Truthfully, our team can beat every single team in the field and could lose to any of them as well. No use worrying about Louisville or North Carolina or anything like that when we have lost to a 14 seed and 15 seed in two of our last three appearances. Get in, do work, bring back the magic.

No. It seems that way because the board is obsessed with it and talks themselves in to it.
There's been no potential matchups even if we did win for quite awhile.
It's like Duke always playing in North Carolina and getting easy brackets.
Its something everyone repeats and just really isn't a thing.

I think they will really try hard to matchup UK and UofL, either as a 3/6 or 4/5 matchup.

The SC loves that matchup. Good for ratings.

Well we'll be in big trouble. Did you see what they did to the Penguins of Youngstown State?
LoL, I was just referring to the potential storylines:
"This is the team that beat Kentucky in the NIT in 2013"
or
"This team is from the same league as Oakland...blah blah blah"

I hope they do it and UK boat races them so badly that the announcers have nothing to talk about.

not sure Louisville will be a 6 seed

A lot of this is way overblown.

How many meaningful "storyline" first two games do you all think we've had in the past 20-30 years?

Once you get to Swt16 all bets are off.

'23 Providence?
'17 NKU and Witchita St?
'16 Indiana?
'12 WKU?
'11 WVU?
'07 Kansas
'06 UAB?
'05 EKU?
'99 Kansas

I just don't see it. Biggest storylines above are in state first round games (3).
