IF we lose tonight, Pope needs to get some athletes

This year has been ok and I hope we pull out a miracle. But, Pope needs to get serious about some athletic talent for next year and beyond. We don't need any more slow centers or forwards that can't keep anyone in front of them.
That's a hell of an idea. You ought to communicate that to him.. He probably doesn't want any good athletes and hasn't thought of it.

if? this mf needs to recruit athletes who have a pair of nuts and aren't afraid to mix it up to get a rebound, we have a team full of pussies who has no clue how to rebound

this is a horrible look, get blown out by tennessee and dent commits to UCLA .. ****ing awesome.
I don't disagree. But, we do have some injuries to consider for this year. I am just tired of getting beat off the dribble or guys that aren't quick enough to the ball. Too many weak spots that put our other guys in bad positions.

I said the exact same thing after the SEC tournament. I got absolutely crucified for saying it on here. I 100% agree with you though. You cannot have slow footed, big man and defend today’s offenses.

I think a lot of these players saw a lottery ticket late in the transfer portal and took it. Amari is one of them. It's a lot of guys that really aren't kentucky-level players.

I weird love this team, while also hating them. Felt this way all year. So many great come backs, but so many 1st half dicking-around performances.

So glad to move on to a real off season and move on from a piece-mealed roster. These guys just aren't it.. but Pope pulled the most out of them.

Someone told Amari that he is Magic Johnson this year. No way in hell should we have our center trying to drive the ball from above the 3 point line. It's fools gold and you don't even see that sh!t in the NBA. Who the hell told him that this was ok?

Mark Pope

I think he is drawn toward players who remind him of himself when he wore the uniform, he needs to get some fast athletes who can shoot
He got the job late! He got what he could get given the timing of the jobe opening up and the fact that there wasn't a single guy on the roster.

Thank you! It’s truly the dumbest sh*t ..

Late putting a roster together this year. He knows what we need. I suspect we have Oweh and 4 transfers starting next year. The Tulane transfer won’t be one of them
Freshman or 2 will have something to say about that! He needs to get some intensity more then anything! Sorry; but all year from time to time we play very passive. No intensity! When you don't address it thru out the season, it's to late to deal with it in the tournament!

When we win games we play as a team.

We did not play as a team offensively 95% of the night.

Thus, we cannot get in rhythm.

Pope not doing anything about that is a concern.

I hope it wasn't the gameplay.

So Yes, teams who have lesser talent HAS To play better team ball to compete.

We did not do that, therefore we lose.

But us fans that shouted for athletes and "bucket-getters" all of last offseason was scolded and confidently told that we don't need such players as long as we get shooters and defensive dogs playing in Pope's offense. Their constant rebuttal was that we had them players with Cal and we all seen how that ended the previous few years.

If we ever want to compete for national titles again, Kentucky has got to get back to their recruiting prowess. We need to get at least a couple of the best transfers with a sprinkle of one or two elite high school kids. We couldn't even get a top 20 recruit from the portal last year. If feels like we were even lucky to get two highly ranked Kentucky kids coming out of high school for next year. However, it's going to take so much more than that to get us into contention.

It wasn't the level of athletes. It was the game plan, lack of finding an answer, and overall focus and effort. That's not athletic ability.
Beat them by 2 in the 2nd half and the defense finally came around.

First half letting them get whatever they wanted and not getting any rebounds was the difference. It's why most big sports don't crown a champ based on a single elimination best of 1 tournament. I wouldn't change it because it makes it the best sporting event on the planet, but it certainly doesn't always crown the best team.

Tennessee’s defense shut us down except for William’s few baskets. Brea could do nothing and our half court offense was totally bad. We appeared unprepared and unmotivated to start the game, and couldn’t match Tennessee’s energy.

I noticed that as well. The way we played was like this was the first time all year. Our guys came out lethargic,

Unfortunately, Barnes severely out coached Pope tonight.

I'm not sure how the result tonight, win or loss, would've contradicted the need for better talent. I think it was clear through the course of the season. We can only MacGyver a roster to a degree. It showed in our losses. When we lost, we got decimated.

Maybe our guys way over performed the first 2 games against UT. Tonight, we didn’t look like we belonged on the court against them. I really hope Pope holds the bar higher on athletes.

You ACTUALLY believe Coach Pope doesn't think we need the VERY BEST players available to play for him at UK???!!!!

He had 4 FREAKIN WEEKS to put this group together and his BEST player was INJURED and OUT for the last half of the season and his second best player INJURED his shoulder and was NEVER the same even when he returned!!! Then his PF battled back injuries the ENTIRE season!!! And we STILL Beat Duke, UofL, UT(twice) and made it to a Sweet 16!!!!

Coach Pope WILL get "athletes" and "bucket getters" from this point forward!!!

Give the man a BREAK for how LITTLE time he had and the INJURIES he had to endure!!!
