If we beat MS ST and GA

do they fall out of the top 25? If Florida beats Missouri do they move into top 10? If the Cats continue to win, will they gain any respect this year or simply be considered a fluke in a down year for the SEC East. This lack of respect just shows how far Kentucky football had fallen. This also shows how great a job CMS and staff are doing.

If UK beats those two and makes it to Atlanta, the outcome of that championship game would be the determining factor. If UK makes it close with or wins against Ole Miss- we are legit. If we lose by more than 3 touchdowns (which, being honest, is incredibly likely given that machine they call an offense) then our season was a fluke, we caught MISS ST and UGA on bad days or they weren't even that good to begin with. We'd get some respect, but not so much that we'd actually be considered a power in the SEC. That would take another season of us really hitting it home.

Ifs and buts

I don't think I've ever seen a fan base go up and down more than UK football.

After Lafayette "We're horrible! Be lucky to win 2 games this year"
After USCjr "We could win the East!"
After Florida "We still stink. We'll never beat Florida. When's Big Blue Maddness?"
After Mizzou "We'll win 11 games and beating Miss St and Ga"

It's just important to never get too high or too low and keep some perspective. UK is likely not going to beat Ga or Miss on the road. This team has a great chance at 6 wins and a good chance at 7 with a win against UL. I think UK will be in just about every game with the SEC being down this year. UK can take advantage but you have to keep in perspective and enjoy the ride.

Let's focus on EKU first.

MSU is a month away......and Georgia is 2 wks after that. We have no way to know where any team will be by then.

I guess I did a bad job of making my point. Sorry. It's just that we play Florida so close and really should have won and they are now at 25. I realize they beat TN also. Just saying. We beat MO when they are ranked 25 and they fall off the map. I know we must continue to prove ourselves. Just so anxious for these young men and coaches to receive some credit for the incredible hard work they have put in.
GO BIG BLUE!

Highly doubt we beat Miss St AND Georgia. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? No. Very likely that we don't beat either and that will be ok as long as it is respectable and not the beat down we suffered last year from UGA.

Yeah I agree. MSU may be possible, but UGA is looking very unlikely. At that point they might be playing for not just the SEC crown but potential playoff implications. They will be ready to go, especially if UK is like 6-3 at that point or some similar record.

"Respect" in SEC FB is a function of sustained excellence over time. We need to start by finishing above .500 in our conference. If we do that, we will have taken our first significant step toward "respect." A nice victory here and there means nothing to our SEC brethren. We won't get the respect we would like until we string a few seasons of .500 SEC ball together....a couple of new years day bowls.....maybe a SEC East crown. Our rivals will continue to look at us as "one hit wonders" on our best day until we hurt them in the W/L column.

This is a perfect example of me being a UK football fan. That's hilarious.

This. Been saying it for a couple years now, but it's particularly bad this year.

There's a chance we go to Starkvegas 5-1, real good chance.
Whether UK comes out with win#6 and bowl eligibility is another tale. I've not seen much of MSU this season, so I can't comment on them.
UGa on the other hand is a totally different animal. Their defense is pretty darn solid and their running game is enough to beat just about anybody. However, UGa under Richt throws up a clunker at least one game a year. I hope this clunker game is when the Cats roll into Athens.
I'm optimistic with what I saw Saturday night. Build on it and keep rolling.

Missouri has 2 sec east crowns and still get very little credit. We are gonna have to beat a lot of teams for a couple years to get respect.

Very true. Only thing I can think of with Mizzu is they are the new kid on the block and the old establishment just can't give them any credit. They were not suppose to come into the SEC and win like they have. Plus teams in the East have pretty much been forgotten over the last few years.

If UK beats MSU and UGA on the road I assume at worst they split with UT and Auburn at home in that span and are something ike 7-2 going into the "murderer's row" of Vandy, Charlotte, and UL to end the season. I am fairly confident a 7-2 UK team would be ranked fairly high.
