If not what game is?
Me personally, I think it absolutely would be.
Beating #3 anywhere is huge.
Beating #3 on the road is uber rare.
Beating your arch rival on the road when they are #3 takes the damn cake.
The icing would be we stay alive for the East too and crack the top 10 again.

It won't be the biggest game ever in program history IMO. It was before my time, but I am going with the 50 Sugar Bowl and National championship game between UK and Oklahoma. The victory ended their 13 game win streak.

But a win in Knoxville against this Vol team would in my opinion be the most important in terms of UK climbing to the next level. Stoops had to get us here first before he could attempt it.

In modern era (post 2000) probably win over LSU when they were number one and went on to when the title. You are giving too much credit to UT in my opinion. I’m sure there will some Vawl fans that will be along in a bit to say otherwise!
That was my first thought as well but second thought it’s about more than who was ranked higher and then winning the title was hindsight post season.

We finished that year out by imploding so it meant zilch in the grand scheme.

UT is a rivalry. They are #3 and beginning ti get playoff talk. Going down there on the road and ruining their season in front of 100kVol fans is worth something. We are also nearing the end of the year and still have very slim SECCG hopes if we win out, UGA beats UT and then gets beat by either MSU or UF.

You do realize that in 1950’s the Championships were awarded before any bowl games were played. Although a good win Oklahoma had already been awarded the National Championship by the AP and UP Coaches Poll.

How dare you besmirch our revisionist history 1950 mythical national championship?

Oklahoma had a 32 game winning streak, which makes the win even more impressive.

And IMO it would be the most satisfying ever and that's saying something with all I've seen. As of now the win I reveled in more than any was probably the Stevie Got Loose UL game. Just a compilation of real big game to start the year vs ranked rival who was claiming authority over us and we ruined their year right of the bat and got a big win for ours at the same time in dramatic fashion.

This one would have a lot of the same qualities to feel good about.

Exactly as UT is a bigger rival than UL at least in football and UT is ranked way higher than UL was plus this game coming up is on RT.
Plus you must factor in that UK is #19 nationally and as you said a win extends our chances at not only the East but the SEC and National Titles.
Furthermore, though playing in the SEC is brutal with all the comp. you can make the FF w/2 Ls because you have so many opportunities at huge wins, especially when you factor in the SECCG. Its a 2 edged sword. With the bottom edge giving UK a prayer at the college football playoffs!

You do realize that the 1950 team got closer than ANY team that was on a "collision course with the national championship" EVER got to a title. LMAO....jSee your pitiful team on Nov. 26th. I can't wait to destroy them AGAIN...

UK did once beat the #1 team on the road in 1964 in an early season game: UK 27 Ole MIss 21. That Kentucky team was led by Rick Norton (QB), Rick Kestner (end), and Roger Bird (halfback, safety, punt/kickoff returns).

There were high hopes for UK that year as they returned home the next week and beat #7 Auburn 20-0. Unfortunately the wheels came off after that, and they lost their next 4 games finishing with a 5-5 season. Ole Miss also faded to a 5-5 record so the game isn't really remembered that much. UK coach: Charlie Bradshaw, Ole Miss coach: Johnny Vaught.

This game depends on the OL, if they play well, we have all of the other tools and skilled players to win this game. If the OL plays well, I think we win.
Agreed. Barion Brown is a TD waiting to happen.
UT will overlook us because of playing Bama before and at #1 Georgia afterwards. Human nature. No way they get up for us. None. Plus UK has revenge factor from last yrs face mask gate and subsequent L in Ky.

Hell no. It won't be the biggest win for us ever LOL.

Tell you what it will be:

The worst loss Tennessee football ever had to Kentucky. By far.
They are riding high right now. They really believe they're going to go from the cellar at the beginning of the season last year to the national championship game this year.

There's just one thing they forgot:
Kentucky doesn't suck anymore and we play good on the road. Kentucky players ain't going to be scared whatsoever. They're going to be looking forward to this actually.
That talent gap Tennessee always had on UK doesn't exist anymore.
Mark Stoops is going to show them that.

Like I said it's going to be Kentucky 29 Tennessee 27

Biggest? Nah. Most satisfying in a while if we pull it off? You bet.

I would love to be able to log some metaphorical volleys across the border.

That season went to hell with Norton's knee injury, otherwise it was said UK had a Cotton Bowl birth in their pocket....if I'm not getting my seasons mixed up.

Remember fellas this will only be the 2nd game out of 8 that UK has had Levis-CRod-Robinson together. The other was at #9 Ole Miss in a game we had stolen from us by the Zebras.

Wish I could have liked this several more times. I was there that night, it was magical!

**** Tennessee. Wouldn’t be a big win because they’re not a big time program. Just having a Bette r year than normal.

I think we need this win, to save the expectations we had. This is a great team. One of the best to ever play at UK. I just worry about TN fans, throwing trash on the field. Didn't that happen last year against ole miss? Talk about trashy.

If we somehow pull the shocker TN fans will be throwing more than trash. They will be throwing themselves off mts and bridges!
LFG!!!!

Thats the game most go back to.
But let me tell you why UT would be bigger;
#3 compared to #1 is very little difference.
The game is in Knoxville, the LSU game was in Kentucky.
UT is our arch rival, LSU is not.
A win next Saturday keeps Kentucky’s slim dreams of an SEC East, SEC and National Title on life support.

We have 2 losses. We have No National Title hopes. Please give that one a rest. It really looks kinda silly

They aren't overlooking us. They had this game circled all year. It's why they're wearing the blacks.

Not the biggest but could be the most satisfying, depending on how things shake out. To date, imo the most satisfying was the major upset vs up to get bowl eligible

Jesus Christ. We are the better program and have been for several years now. Maybe they have the better team this year, maybe they don't...we'll find out next weekend. Absolutely mystified by the section of our fanbase acting like this is David vs. Goliath.

If we are healthy going into that game I am not scared of UT. Haven't been for years. Our players aren't afraid of them either. I will go even further and say we don't fear UGA like other teams either.

You are headed to The Abyss but before I banish you let me school you first:

If we finish 11-2 with wins over 5 top 16 teams at the time we played them, UF, Miss St, UT, Georgia SECW champ we absolutely will be one of the 4 going to the National Semis. Make no mistake about it. Ive already outlined the help we need to get there which basically boils down to at Miss St. or Florida beating UGA. Just because you have no intestinal fortitude doesnt mean I don't. See Ya!

That’s just it you’re relying on going 11-2
Which includes beating #3 and #1

I’d put the odds of UK beating both TN and GA at .00001% chance. Nothing is impossible though.

You think we are going to win every game if we trotted the local HS team out against the Patriots you’d be thinking we was gonna destroy them, while optimism is a great thing, most the time it makes you look ridiculous. Especially with the 4-0 and we are going to run the table posts.
