He should be fired regardless of buyout. He won’t be though because he’s as safe as it gets when it comes to compliance. He’s the meekest, mildest person imaginable for such a role, so I’m sure Capiluoto loves him.

Now that cheating doesn’t exist in college sports, I want a killer in his spot. Win at all costs, cut throats, whatever it takes. We are a joke now, and a big part of that rests on Barnhart, especially if he won’t do what needs to be done. Teams laugh when we are highly seeded in their brackets, easy chance for an upset story. We are the most hated but no longer the most feared. I want Kentucky to be feared again.

Have not heard that. Not being in Kentucky, I just don’t get much info beyond here. I would like to understand better how UK got here.

My “knowledge” of the situation is Barnhart was never a Cal guy but after he botched the BCG hire he was pretty much a bystander in the process to get Cal here. My guess is ADs talk and Cal’s reputation of being extremely difficult to work with was disclosed to Mitch. Regardless he was hired and the immediate results were outstanding and exceeded reasonable expectations.

Fast forward to the UCLA situation. Is there discussions that Barnhart didn’t want to do the “lifetime” contract? That is the first I have heard that but given Mitch’s disdain for Cal not unreasonable. Would love to hear more about that if anyone knows. Got to occupy my time until Opening Day!

I had heard that had more to do with the President. Not sure how true that is, but maybe someone can enlighten us.

Actually you can and maybe should. Minnesota ditched the AD who hired Tubby and the next AD came in and fired his butt. If Mitch won't take corrective action, fire him and let the next AD fix the problem.
