If they play football for another 1000 years, that will be worst play call

I would be more worried about Lynch leaving as a free agent ...

...after they didn't trust him with the ball on the goal line to win the Super Bowl, why would he stay?

That's what happens when you over think it , just stupid beyond belief . It's not even a hindsight call , everybody is near the line of scrimmage and that makes it a high risk play in a situation that doesn't require it .

Carrol let the call go through. Some has to go on him. I mean you could smell stupidity when they lined up shotgun at the one.

You know why I'm here......... Evidently not

I absolutely couldn't believe that play call. I give the ball to that hoss Lynch and if he couldn't get it in I might consider the pass but to make that call at that time was just unexplainable. if I was going to pass in that situation It sure wouldn't be to the middle of the field. I absolutely can not understand what they were thinking making that call. A brain fart no doubt.

Lynch has got to be one of the top five short yardage backs in NFL history and you don't let him run it from the one yard line to win the Super Bowl?? Just incredible.

Yeah that might even eclipse Joker running Newton on the goal line instead of giving it to Cobb. There's no way NE stops Lynch from picking up a yard. And you could have given it to him twice. Seattle could have still stopped the clock so there's plenty of time. No reason to throw the ball up for grabs in the middle like that.

The NFL office hated that call also...now Deflate gate will be the off the field story of the summer with the Pats champs again.

How hard can they come down on the Pats for their cheating? Had Seattle won, deflate gate doesn't matter any more and the league can levy a reasonable team fine and it just goes away. Now that they've won a fine looks like a cop out to the other teams, owners so they have to keep digging until they have more to take draft picks, suspensions, etc...and their2015 NFL champions will always be seen as cheaters by anyone not a Pats fan.

With a TO in your back pocket, 1 yard away, and a beast like Lynch in your backfield, you don't throw a pass. Never.

Couldnt believe that call. It was almost UK like in its horribleness. I know exactly how the Seattle fans feel right now.

I hope Dawson was watching. Nothing makes me more furious than when these pass happy coordinators get in the pistol when they need short yards. Be it fourth and one or second and goal. Get under center and run it.

NE had already given up. Not even calling timeouts.

Wanted to make Wilson the MVP instead of Lynch IMO. Could anything be dumber? Now we have to endure all the crap about how great Brady and the Patriots are.

I think the organization wanted Russell Wilson to be the hero instead of Lynch.

One yard, 3 attempts, 2 time outs, oh and the guy in the backfields name is BEAST MODE! And you pass???? And not only pass, you throw a slant and the entire defense is packed in the middle. I am seriously still in shock. I can honestly say that that is the worst play call in the history of any sport.

I mean, if you're dumb enough to pass it, why not lob it to Mathews? He had been dominating all night ... my mind is absolutely blown. What a horrible play call.

That's the worst call I've ever seen not even considering context. 2nd and goal from 2 feet? That's a bad, horrible call in any situation. But in the Super Bowl? With 25 seconds left? Holy cow. Seriously, that's unforgivable. The Packets fired their special teams coach this week after the insides kick. This is much worse, much bigger, more faultable call. Sheesh.

OC had a bad game. They got up 24-14, had a 3rd and 2, and run a wheel route, 20 yard pass. wtf? Later, still up 24-14, chance to ice it, 3rd and 5, another wheel route. Lynch.

That was the 2nd worst play call in history. The first was when Randall Cobb took us all the way down the field on the would be game winning drive vs Tennessee, and then Joker put the ball in the hands of Morgan Newton.

After that incredible 5 bounce catch to set up the score, then they blow it like that with plenty of time, downs and a TO left. I mean you could not have set the stage better to close out that game. The only prayer that NE had was a fumble or a pick. Lynch is not a fumbler, so Seattle did the only thing that would give NE a chance to win.

The only question left is was that a sideline call or a field call?

A fairly meaningless regular season game vs the Super Bowl....No way.

Why was Seattle in shotgun? You have the best goal-line RB in the NFL and you throw an inside slant?

Pete Carrol just made the biggest boneheaded call in the history of the Super Bowl!

Worst call in the history of any sport.....unless you consider Pitino not guarding Grant Hill on the inbound.
I vote for that one.

I understand where you are coming from, but Duke had once chance to score and if they ran that play 10 times it might actually work about 4. Seattle had 3 attempts to run it in from the one and if you did that series 10 times, the Patriots might stop it twice. But no, they threw a pass.

There was a blurb on the crawl on ESPN. That was the only interception thrown from the 1 yard in the NFL this year.

The title of this thread says it all.I have watched football for 50+ years and have seen teams lose games many ways(much of that includes UK games) but that call at that level is beyond anything I have ever seen.

There is simply no earthly way the Pats' defense could have stopped Lynch three times from the one yard line. It is wholly inconceivable.

With that said, the whole "Deflategate" thing is overblown all to hell. I was reading on sporting news sites today that there is evidence showing only one ball was significantly under proper PSI while the others were barely under the league minimum. I think the media too this, can with it and will not look stupid since there was no evidence to ever back any of the assertions.

Unbelievable. I was in complete shock. No way for Carroll to spin this. Awful call.

Did they have one timeout left or two? If they just had one I could at least come up with a semi-defensible reason for a pass on 2nd down. Not saying I agree with it but just that I might at least be able to explain what they were thinking.

Still in shock. Totally mismanaged. On first down, Lynch runs to the 1/2 yard line at exactly 1:00. The next snap is right at :25. I know you don't want to give them the ball back after scoring with any time at all. Still. That looked like a cf from the get go.....

The chances of Laettner scoring on that play are much lower than Lynch punching it in from the 1 yard line.

Obviously I wasn't being serious. Just a sore spot with a lot of us UK fans. It hurt me personally a lot worse.

Pete Carroll the "puppeteer"........trying to score the winner as the clock goes 00:00. He let the "legend of Tom Brady" whip his a$$. IMO, he was actually in fear that Brady could win the game with a dozen or so seconds on the clock after a Seahawks score and kickoff, and he didn't want Brady to have a chance to snatch the victory away with a miracle drive & hail Mary.

I have no dog in this fight at all, but I hate to see great effort and execution undercut by sorry, scared coaching decisions.

Like the old man used to say: "Too....cute....by.....half."
