How high of a fall are we from the bottom? If Vandy occupies the first (lowest) floor and the Bamas/UGAs occupy the 10th (top) floor, what floor would UK’s fall be from?

It’s a risk assessment question to see if our fans view the departure as “survivable” as a program.

Don’t get me wrong…Stoops had done a fantastic job of building us back to respectable from the depths.

But a big part of that was his ability to convince Mitch to open the checkbook and is financially commit to football (facilities/recruiting) for the first time in my lifetime (if not ever).

If we continue to commit to paying SEC money to coaches, keep up w the NIL race, and maintain facilities….Then I believe we will have capable coaches that can continue to win 8 games or more with the occasional 10+ season.

Financial support was our biggest historical hurdle and all the other things (most northern SEC/Instate talent/basketball school..etc) were the excuses/factors that justified the poor financial support.

If we continue to invest then our floor should be MSU, Ole Miss, USCjr, Arkansas etc….middle of the pack trying tk knock off the name brands

I think if you go by this year along is completely different than if you take a 3-4 year sample. You are looking at roughly 1.5 team per lvl, this year I think UK is somewhere between 4-6, over 3-4years that goes to a 7-8. With 10 being the highest.

Well, we just lost at home to a bad Vandy team so I’d say we’re already toward the bottom. We also lost to So Carolina at home and barely beat a mediocre Mizzou team.

UK is a solid middle of the pack program. We have some talent and we now have recruiting advantages that we did not used to have. SO, I don't want Stoops to leave, but if he does, I think we could get a good coach and not go backward.

With that said, life is about to get tougher with OU and Texas joining the league and possibly 9 game SEC schedule.

I’m not sure we’re that far from the bottom with Stoops at the moment. We just lost to Vandy and are in the midst of an atrocious year with expectations as high as they’ve ever been. Stoops isn’t the only coach in the country that could win here. With all the support this program has now, I think there’s a lot of coaches that would win here. And probably a good bit that would win more than Stoops has.
