I had NO idea what to expect
Had never seen Popes BYU teams
Had heard ppl ridicule UKs roster as being a championship mid major squad

Its just nuts
AND Coach is emerging as a kind of "contemporary template" for what coaches should BE

I was just hoping to make the tournament and was afraid we'd just have nostalgia for awhile. I was wrong.

The best thing about Pope is he didn't just go get the best players, he got guys that could all do specific things.

I thought we’d be good and that our floor was last year BYU (20ish wins and a 6ish seed with some inconsistency), I was relatively high on Pope even before he was hired but I never would have guessed this season would start off so well.

No. I admit I was very critical of the Pope hire vs other candidates. Will happily say I was wrong. I have skepticism about elements of Pope's system for March but he has injected much needed energy into the program and put an exciting product on the floor. There's more joy this year than any season Cal produced since, what, 2019?

Honestly, no. I wasn't sure how this would go. Coach Pope continues to impress in more ways than coaching.

I remember when Coach Pope was hired there were people around here that were thinking he wasn't a good hire and that we should have got a huge name. I mean, at first I was also taken back... then thinking about it set in and Pope LOVES UK and is a very good coach on top of that!! Great combination. Put a lot of hard work to pull this roster together in little time. Love the results so far!!
