If recruiting ended today, who would we end up with?

i think quickly and Zion end up here, but who else? Will it be Barrett or reddish? Who is the center we will end up with bol or Reid? Just curious on your take on how you feel the class will shake out given the fact it seems we will end up staring with quickly and Zion? What about shitty? I know a lot will depend on who stays and who goes but I would love to hear your take on who we end up for our 2018 class.

No idea, but with the increased talk about Shittu, I wonder if Cal is trying to put together a pair of package deals. Quickley and Zion Williamson + Shittu and Barrett. 2 totally separate packages, but convince them that they can meld into one awesome team. Great if it happens.

I think the goal this year, at least right now, is to find a way to get 2 of Bagley, Barrett, Williamson, and Reddish. Those guys are a notch above, in much the same way that AD and MKG were in 2011, or Wall and Cuz were in 09.

I think that would be the best fit for our roster. Considering I think we get Green, SGA, Baker, one of Washington/Gabriel/Vanderbilt, SKJ and Richards back. A lineup of

Barrett is too talented to ignore. Before reclassification, Cal might have had other kids in mind at the 3. With the kid in the picture, Cal goes all in. Its not easy to do to team USA what this kid did. Even if some of these kids play the same position, one thing is always true. You can always find a need for a top 5 kid. I don't know what happens, but if Barrett moves up a class, I bet Cal goes all in and the kid decides on Kentucky. Some of us want two, but what about three of those guys? Now we're talking insane talent all over the court.

Just some musings in the middle of summer pertaining to this thread:

With Bagley now filing for reclassification, I really want Williamson for 2018.

6'7, 240 lbs. and wants to destroy the rim every time he touches the ball.

Love his attitude and motor. I think he will be a beast at the 4 for us.

He might want to play on the perimeter, well most of the time, Cal plays his 4 on the perimeter more than in the post. Willis, Gabriel, and Washington are all stretch 4's. Jones was a stretch 4.

I think Reddish is the more compatible wing scorer for Williamson. He is a good passer and defender. He impacts the game in more ways than just scoring. Barrett is definitely the better scorer. Reddish is the better perimeter shooter as well. Williamson will demand a double team in the post, giving Reddish some wide open looks from deep.

Williamson needs room to operate inside, which means a more perimeter oriented big could flourish beside him. Bol seems to be the best option there. His 7'3 shotblocking frame will put him at the 5 on defense. Offensively, he needs to work on his post play, but has a sweet jumper to go with Williamson's muscle inside.

Quickley is obviously the PG Williamson is most comfortable with, since they have been talking package deal.

I think King will eventually get an offer and will jump at it. It might be this Spring after Reddish and Barrett make their intentions known.

We probably get Green, Gilgeous-Alexander, Baker, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard back.

If another guy comes back, we have room for them. If not, fill out the roster with one or two 4-star role players.

That's pretty good balance. Five impact guys coming in, five veterans returning.

Green back gives us a leader in the backcourt. Green, Quickley, Reddish, Williamson, and Bol would be one heck of a starting lineup with SGA, King, and SKJ off the bench.

I think the goal posts have moved and Cal is going all out for a Quickley, Barrett, Reddish, Zion, and King type class. Bol, Bagley, and Langford seem to be on the outs. With Diallo, Knox, Vanderbilt, and PJ he can show Quickley, Barrett, Reddish, and Zion exactly how they can play together with a returning Quade and dominate.

The true 5 in college basketball is becoming more of a negative than positive when you can start 3 6'7-6'8 plays with excellent athleticism, speed, length, and hops. By the time any decent 5 can tie his shoes, he is NBA bound.

Realistically, when you ask a question like this in July, you end up with a thread listing people's wish lists. For example, everyone wants Barrett. But realistically, there is no possible way at this point to know what Barrett will actually do. I agree with you that Quickly and Williamson appear likely right now. But at this point, nobody has any idea who will sign in this class. All you can really say now is that Calipari will probably sign another strong class.

I honestly think we get at least three, maybe four of those top targets.

Quickley and Williamson seem most likely. Quickley seems to be UK's to lose. Williamson wants to play with Quickley and also has UK on his list.

Then I think we get one of Reddish or Bsrrett.

Cal most of the time will get three or four of his top five priorities. Look at 2011 (Davis, MKG, Teague), 2013 (The Twins, Randle, Johnson), 2016 (Fox, Monk, Bam), and 2017 (Green, Diallo, Knox).

I'd be fine with Quickley, Reddish, and Williamson. Then add King, instead of Bsrrett. Barrett is great, but King is no slouch.

Hopefully, we get Bol as well, along with some returning players to round out the roster.
