If our interior play doesn't improve dramatically

How far can Ulis and Murray realistically take us? IMHO it could be tough. Wish we had just one interior banger who could consistently go for 12 and 10. Thoughts?

Random moment for that thought process.

Yes, we need better interior play.

Obviously it hurts to not have an interior presence and have to rely on two guys.

That being said, I still feel Ulis and Murray could take us all the way.

It's just less margin for error.

Lets see what happens.
We beat UF like a drum without Poythress.
I know I know cant expect Murray to go for 35 every nite but lets see what happens tonight before we start freaking out.

Maybe Poy being out for a couple games will force Skal to actually experiment with rebounding once in a while.

He might even start to like it. Some kids can't quit once they're hooked on it.

Pretty funny.

It's not the lack of interior offense that will kill UK. If you look back at the last 6 NCAA champs, 3 of them (Duke 2010, both UConn teams) were teams that had almost no interior scoring. And UL in 2013 had no real post presence on O.

What you can't have is a lack of defense and rebounding from the frontcourt. Those 2 UConn teams and Duke in 2010 had very little skill inside, but they did have big bodies who could protect the rim and rebound. I hate bemoaning guys who leave UK early, because it's generally just a selfish thing, but damn if Dakari Johnson wouldn't have made an enormous difference for this team.
