If I Were Levis…

I’d shut it down for the season ala Sharpe. He’s cashed in heavy on NIL, is hurt, has an offensive line that might get him killed, an offensive coordinator that is dear-in-headlight ala Gran, and is already recognized as top tier draft pick, where the real money will be. It would be a prudent business I could not blame him for.
So the basketball one n does should shut it down also?

I don't think Levis quits on UK. However...his play HAS GONE DOWN since all the talk about him n the draft started. Reading your own press clippings is a thing....he isn't the Levis of last season for whatever reason.
“For whatever reason”. I’m not saying he hasn’t made some bad mistakes, because last week was on him, but the O Line getting him killed probably has a lot to do with that.

I hope I'm wrong about this but this is where I can see NIL going wrong. This isn't just companies hiring someone to do a commercial for them. This is people donating to collectives and some of those people are going to have expectations. You don't know who some of these people are and what they expect. I know I saw in a thread on here some guy claimed to have given $500,000. I'm not saying anything about that person specifically but a lot of those people are going to expect him to play and be really mad when he doesn't. Pissed of whackos tend to do pissed of whacko things.

No one here gave 500k

No one here gave 500,000.
I wouldn't bet on it, isn't a million just a thousandth of a billionaires worth? I wonder how many million our recent President lost to be President? And how many millions our present President will make?

And they didn't get $500,000 to donate if they are stupid.

The NFL isn’t the prissy NBA. If a QB shuts it down before the end of the season no pro GM is going to draft a supposedly team leader who quits early on his team. The NFL is a man’s league, not a league where a 19 or 20 year old is a star.

You may but Levis is a man and will act like one.

No one smart enough to have that much money is going to murder someone, although I did read one pretty weird case where two brothers murdered their parents for their money and got caught. And I will bet a lot of murder cases get close to a million spent on solving them, counting the salaries of the detectives. You MIGHT get away with robbing an all night convenience store but not if you murder someone in the process. Plural on the detectives, and some of them are still solving cases twenty years old. No statute of limitations on murder.

Might be what CCC would recommend.

You have more faith in humanity than I do.

Oddly, I fear NIL might be the problem. I wonder if some guys are getting jealous of some others getting paid while they miss tackles, and they aren't getting paid and didn't miss a tackle? I thought this would rear it's head at the bigger schools but it may already be here. I've never seen a team quit like that in a game they should of won easily and when they still had tons of goals ahead of them that were possible.

Levis doesn’t have rats behind the scene handling his situation

I agree with your post, either pay all of them the same or none of them. And I thought they were paid before, either through a very costly education (which many of them wouldn't pass without all the help they get) or through all the training they get to make millions in the pros. It should be a privilege to play for UK, if you don't love the game enough to play it for an education and the adulation you get for playing then you shouldn't be playing. And I understand that the demands are a lot more than just a full time job.

I wonder how all those thousands that played for UK before NIL managed to do it without NIL.

I didn't want to say it out loud, but now that it's been said, it looked a lot like what happened back in Brooks first season(s) here. Looks like the team is fractured

I fear you are being too kind to that freeloader's "handlers". And don't try to tell me he wouldn't have improved even more if he had actually played for Cal. I will never think he was actually a player at UK, just a parasite.

What was his name again?

He would have helped to get some game time for himself but the NBA loves potential and he has that

I also think players should have to pay back NIL if they don't play in games.

Then the company doing the NIL agreement needs to put that in the contract.

Are you sure they don't? I sure would.

You can't put any stipulations into NIL deals related to playing time, performance, injuries, etc.

It's an endorsement. This isn't the NFL where they create performance bonuses. You are paying to use a players name attached to whatever it is you are selling or advertising.

You would be surprised. NFL has no use for Levis if he hangs around and gets beat to death in SEC play. Can he win a pro team games? What is his injury history? More important questions than "did he sit out on UK while dealing with injuries?"

No one should shut it down unless hurt. I also think players should have to pay back NIL if they don't play in games. Said this repeatedly about Sharpe and annoyed no UK media brought it up.
Your not understanding the NIL it’s not a contract to play it’s endorsement deals. Also extremely annoying that anyone thought cal had cards to play. Sharpe wasn’t playing anywhere in the country his handlers made sure of that.

Except that would put into question his competitiveness, probably sliding him down the draft some.

Lol booted off team? He may have quit the team. No coach is gonna do that this day n time
Wrong.

Yes. He shut it down.....AND......
Stoops booted him off the team for doing so.

Now, tell me how Cowl handled Sharpe???

See the difference???

Okay, let’s calm the hell down. Levis against P5 teams last year threw for:

179
102
87
145
192
150
372
177
149
233

this year:
202
220
Levis was very discouraging last year. Terrible decision maker. He's the exact same levis. He's probably improved as he should have

Wrong again. Your ignorance of UK Football and CMS is very telling.

"Shortly after, Stoops hosted his Monday call-in show (via Josh Moore of the Herald-Leader) and revealed that Joseph wanted to sit out this week but still remain with the team. However, Stoops said no". Nov 30, 2020"

Was thinking the same thing. There is absolutely nothing to play for now. This team is a hot garbage and Levis shouldn’t want any part of it.
Except for the fact that Levis has taken 1.5 Mil in NIL money from people who are only giving it to him in the first place to be the QB for the University of Kentucky. You see how that works. How hard is this to understand.

If you personally gave Levis 1.5 mil with the expectation that he plays for UK, then he had a toe injury, sat out for one game and then later shut it down for the rest of the year, how happy would you be? And don't tell me you'd be "fine with it", I'd call BS on that in a heartbeat. But because it's not "your" money, you could care less. This whole argument is stupid, he's basically a pro now and needs to play, PERIOD! All these kids are. You need to understand that fact.

They are being paid "TO PLAY" for UK, not to "shut it down" for UK.

Fortunately I feel like Levis actually has a good head on his shoulders and he will do the right thing and continue playing this year. Bunch of f#$%^ng idiots!
