If I was an offensive backup player, I would be really upset with the starters when we play FCS teams

Classic trap game.

Big win hangover, janky Missouri valley team, celebrating Stoops passing Bryant...
I don't know, that might have been ok years ago, but this is a different era and mindset. Guarantee Stoops will not be happy at all.

Lackluster performance. They should have had at least 2 more TDs. Hopefully, this is a lesson learned.

I love our coach but he likes to say we will play our backups and I think it gets our starters in the mindset to let up. Tell the starters to play hard. Then the backups will get their time. Not knocking our coach love him!!

Gotta get Levis his stats up
In the first half Levis and the O line looked like they needed all the game reps they could get.

Especially Will. Back to holding ball too long, staring down first option receivers, and missing wide open check downs to TE.

THAT'S WHY CMS and Scang kept the starters in the game. Trying to get offense and WL ready for SEC games.

I realize that with a new offensive coordinator our starters need reps, but it would be nice if those starters came out strong enough to get these lesser opponents down enough to see those young O-Linemen and the backup QB.

I'm ELATED that we won 31-0 and we got to see A LOT of the backups on defense. That was great!

This post was not a complaint, just a hope to see the backups.

Lol. Don’t you know that Stoops gets tired of reading our lame comments

Really? We better pray Levis doesn’t get injured, we have 0 QBs with actual game experience. 99% of other coaches would have trotted the backup for the 4th quarter.
False. Teams rarely bring in a backup even if they are up comfortably. And if they do it’s to hand the ball off or kneel down.

Back ups were playing the entire game. Loads of receivers, o line reserves, running
backs. Dittos on the defense. Substituting the entire game except the QB.

Stoops never plays the backup QB
That’s why Beau Allen is gone. If Stoops would have given him reps throughout last season he would still be here. I think this hurts us big time next year. Even if Beau wasn’t the starter or backup give somebody reps

Any reasonable person understood that . Some people are that dense I guess , or maybe just want to be a smart ass .

Happens every year. We just can’t get ahead enough to allow them to get many reps if any.

Hate to be picky, but why do we struggle so much offensively in these type of games???!!!
Really. Some people are never pleased.

i didn't see any o-line reserves (except when Flax was hurt) until the last series. I will wait to see PFF to see who got reps.

I get your point but the offensive line needs as many snaps as a group as they can get.
Good point. I-line needs to gel. I get worried about Levis’ accuracy but a lot of times he is under pressure and can’t get his feet set. Don’t get me wrong Levi’s is a stud but he needs time.

I was hoping to get some of the backups in at some of the skill positions. Our OL is a work in progress, they need all the reps they can get. Goodwin, he’s a good candidate to redshirt if possible. I think we have quality depth at every position but quarterback and the secondary. I’d say we hit the portal hard for two QB’s in the off-season. Must remember we are without our #1 RB so in theory we are playing a lot of backups. I would have like to have seen Beckwith get in at RB yesterday. I would have liked for whoever our backup QB is to get some quality time as well. Is what it is, very few complaints from me. I’m enjoying the season.

Beckwith played. Actually got at least 2 carries that I saw.

🤦‍♂️

Normally, I would be inclined to agree that it sucks that our backups didn't get as many reps as maybe they should have. But we have a young/mostly new team on offense. This offense needs to get into a rhythm. Best way to achieve that rhythm is with reps.

Maybe we can jump ahead against N. Illinois and allow for more distribution of plays, but I am fine if the first team offense gets as much time as they can together before the meat of the SEC schedule begins. There's a ton of talent on offense, but the blocking especially needs work.
