But in seriousness, I'm not going to pretend to know anything about QB evals. I have a feeling that QB1 and QB13 would perform about the same. Calzada has the ability to run so that helps and likely cost a fraction of Mensah and others. Rather spend the money on the numerous other positions we need.
Yeah I just fail to see how a guy who went 8-4 under Jimbo Fisher, with A&M’s defense and running game that year, 3 years and an injury ago, will be able to come in and elevate a Kentucky program that has a hard time completing a forward pass, while being under Bush freaking Hamdan, with having less talent around him than he had at A&M to boot.
I just don’t see it, but if it means the final end of the Mark Stoops era, then so be it.
He better improve a ton to even be sufficient in the SEC.
Yea if our defense was elite and we had elite RBs and a pre Texas and Oklahoma SEC schedule then maybe we could go 8-4 with Calzada. Unfortunately we are 0/3 on those.

We hear how the staff is no longer going to get formerly hyped guys with injury histories and will instead target guys with proven, sustained performance, soooo….. we go get a guy who washed out at one SEC school, got hurt and recruited over (by 2 HISTORICALLY AWFUL QB’s) at another SEC school, had 2 shoulder surgeries, and has only faced FCS competition since then. You can’t make up how laughably stupid this is.

How many top of the conference teams have excelled with little more than a game manager (not making the flashy play every down but just completing the basic ho-hum plays)?? Looking at you Georgia and Alabama!!

We’ve got to stop using this example. Vandy literally brought his coach with him and changed their offense to fit his style of play. If we were going that route then I would be on board. In fact that’s what I thought we should do. Go out and find a new OC who was bringing a QB and his own system but Stoops wanted continuity
Totally right but teams with game manger type QBs who are that good usually have studs everywhere to make up for lack of stud QB. It’s how we went 9-3 with Terry Wilson. Unfortunately don’t think the roster is that good around him.

Some were but they also changed OCs and brought a ton of personnel and coaching over. We're running it back with one of the worst OCs I've ever witnessed.
This is like someone arguing that Dalvin Cook is a good pick up for an NFL team because he was a pro bowler in 2021.
He never played at Auburn because he sat out the 1 season he was there due to shoulder surgery. (FYI on that).
I'm not trying to be negative either but the way things are headed is not good. Pumping sunshine for anyone UK gets then lecturing other fans that they can't cheer for the team because they aren't optimistic about where things are headed is nauseating.

What do you mean Duke didn't want him back? Where was that said anywhere?
He's been visiting better programs than Duke....that's another narrative that has 0 basis. If the Tulane freshman was that much better that Duke forced out Murphy, then why wasn't he visiting all of these other big time programs and settled for Duke?
You do realize he set their school SINGLE SEASON RECORD for passing TDs in a season....that's not a QB that's getting run off.

Mensah was #1 on our board more due to fit in our system. Murphy doesn't run, Hamdan wants a running QB.

Tonight was the first I heard Mensah was #1 on our board.... 5 days after he committed to Duke lol

Look, I’m just taking the totality of the situation and information and piecing it together. The poster who has a co-worker that played for Duke has no reason to lie. The swiftness of Duke landing Mensah shows me the coordination of the process.
Our staff ranking Mensah above Murphy also clearly spells out that a college staff can cover Mensah over Murphy.
Murphy had a decent season. But no running threat, 58% completion in conference, leading conference in INTs, and passing for lower yards per attempt than Brock Vandagriff says to me that it’s very possible, if not likely that the guy who said he was encouraged out of Duke was legit (when they knew that had Mensah locked up).
He would probably be day 1 -#1 here. I don’t think it adds Ws or would be a game changer.
The fact that we’re bringing in what some consider the 43rd best QB in the portal because he’s a “scheme fit” just blows my damn mind.

I'm at about 10. There are literally posts that 3 out every 4 posts are say show ignored content. The thing that amuses me if KY wins for example Ole Miss this year they are all back on the bus. This is one negative place to be right now. Honestly believe we could get the equivalent of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice from portal. They would find something wrong with them and bitch and whine.
Well, I at least appreciate Marky Mark for not putting together an enticing roster to suck me back in. I’ll watch them win 3 games from home. Gotta look on the bright side. No season tickets next year = more money for vacation.
