If Cal ever went to UL, would that

Here's your guy that would slither to u of lol...

Would never happen... he's no idiot.

Hypothetically though... you already have a decent portion of the fanbase calling for him to retire as they don't believe his coaching or strategy can yield a championship. Obviously their would be some upset fans but deep down we know the guy can't coach and at his age wouldn't yield a big return for Louisville.

I would be worried personally. I’d assume he was a man on a mission that was out for revenge. With their resources it would not be a good scenario for us.

Calipari has much more dignity and respect for others than Pitino, it would never happen.
We are going to miss Cal whenever he leaves us
Going to miss him like a hemorrhoid. A Coach should be loyal to his employer first and not the NBA. Plus more than anything else he is a BS artist. He has destroyed every record at UK except all time wins and that was given back to be lost again.

No. We would assume Louisville would get better recruits and probably disappoint versus hype.

I would be much more interested in who we get.

Pitino build a roster that won a championship that would be the only one for a while and then went on and failed in the nba and ultimately failed at Louisville overall.

Cal will leave UK without a roster and would energize their fanbase and the program to a level that could actually be successful so it would be different to me.

After the NBA flirting, the UCLA Thing if you think Cal wouldn’t do something like this you are crazy, ultimately I can’t imagine them being able to afford him though.

He would never leave UK to go to UL. He knows UK is top of all programs and he would not lower himself that way at the end of his career. I think he's where he always wanted to be and we have him til he retires, like it or not.

I wonder what our response would be if Cal ever organized a road show of The Sound of Music. What if he went on the road with a boy band? What if Cal played accordion on the bench? Or did that magic act where you make doves disappear? What if he taught calculus online? What if Cal took up with aged ranch hands and told stories of the Old West? What if Cal developed small high powered fans for his shoes so it looked like he floated when he walked? What if Cal became a Moravian land developer who sold Bitcoin? What would you do if one time you sneezed, Cal came out in the spray and then pestered you for a wash cloth and towel?

Pitino was/is a hell of a coach. Cal is solid and a hell of a recruiter. We could have it much worse. That said, once gone for greener pastures than here...stay gone! I learned that lesson with my first wife, all too well. Na mas, ever again. Doesn't matter who it is especially if we don't have kids together. Lol!. Doesn't matter where they went to me but UL probably is the ultimate poke in the eye. It's about self dignity and rising or staying above all of that. If he leaves...good luck to him. Move forward. May or may not be a smooth move...but never look back at those that left you behind.

And half of the Cult of Cal would turn into Louisville fans.

Not me. I would be right here supporting UK basketball against the Cult of Cal haters as they shift their hatred to the new coach, during the new guys first season.

Yet he has half of our FF's since the field expand to 64 teams.

Fair enough...

And our only losing season and most NIT's since it became irrelevant. Not to mention 1st and 2nd round flameouts against inferior competition.

Yep. His tenure hasn't been perfect. Didn't say that.

Folks just seem to write off his accomplishments for whatever reason.

I admit Cal has had alot of successes and I was a fan of his until he started the BS, and was more about the NBA instead of UK. He got soft and I think now he is out to prove he can be viable again. I love this team and I hope we end the year more UKest.

Agree to a point. I don't buy the NBA stuff the same that some do. Have always thought he was just honest with players, which I'm fine with. When you recruit the best you have to expect they will leave early. When they leave early, recruits see them on TV and want to be them- then they come to UK. It is a recruiting tactic; JMHO.

I think Cal f'ed up royally with staff, probably had some hangover heartburn from '15...but '20 was the biggest issue. Think he panicked and tried to do a quick fix. The recruiting misses due to staff and implicit cheating from other BB's didn't help.

Either way, feels different this year.

The one thing I've said for years is Cal is too damn good one way or another to be a single title coach. I've been watching him for 30+ years. He is a good coach, he isn't perfect...he has to be dialed in but when he is and trusts guys, he is as good as they get.

I really hope folks try and enjoy this because there is always a chance he closes out really strong. They are certainly putting the classes together to make a run.
