That series will be all but over and you just know the Cal to Cleveland talk will ramp up from the likes of Wilbon and Wojnarowski.

I like Chicago to win the series, but in all honesty I'll believe it when I see it.

Rumors could also start about Chicago because it looks like he is gone no matter what they do.

I've thought from the beginning of our recruiting issues this season this is the exact reason we have seen trouble. It's not the stupid platoons that everyone keeps crying about. It's the NBA, and the problem is cal will not fully close the door. I bet the negative recruiting was geared way more towards that than the platoons.

Matt jones you may not steal this info and post it as you new "source". ;)

What else is Cal supposed to do to stop the rumors? I think he's handled the issue pretty well. When these rumors started circulating several weeks ago, he shot them down by explaining he has no interest in going back to the NBA and gets more satisfaction from helping young players reach their goals and become millionaires.

The rumors are going to persist no matter what he says. It's just part of what we have to deal with, but don't act like Cal isn't doing anything to stop them. It's out of his control too. All he can do is make a statement when the rumors surface and affirm his loyalty to UK. but then a couple weeks later a new rumor will pop up.

How exactly can Cal close the door to going to the NBA when no matter what he says the media will believe he will move on. He has said countless times that he wouldn't go to the NBA but guys like wilbon will keep bringing it up and guys like Stephen a Smith will make up lies about him being almost fired last year.

I don't think Cleveland job will be open. Love being injured gets him at least another season.

There's a pretty good chance Chicago gets to the finals this year. They definitely want to fire Thibs, but will be nearly impossible if they actually make the finals. Even more, with the spurs out, it's wide open. Chicago could win this thing.

I agree Cal doesn't shut the door like he should. But it was a good sign he didn't appear interested at all in the Thunder job. Or....maybe the Thunder just had no interest in what they knew he was demanding. We'll never know.

Cal does not play a style that translates to the nba. If he went to NBA he would last 4 years maybe vs. a nice comfortable 10-15 at UK. Factor in the 82 game schedule vs 40 and it would make little to no sense for him to go. If the cavs can't get past rd 2 with Lebron and Kyrie then cal would definitely have his work cut out for him to win an nba championship. The man just isn't an nba coach

Btw uk is a bigger stage than 90% of the nba gigs. Cavs fans don't travel like uk fans driving 20 hrs to cheer for their team

Not gonna happen. After losing Kevin Love nobody expected them to do much better than this. Blatt's job is safe for at least another year.

Well they better get use to life without LOVE as he is most likely leaving them anyways. I think getting Vara whatever back next year would be good if they could play him and that Masgov whatever guy together. I think everyone wants to see if Lebron can win a title with just one other good player in Irving. I think he can and will.

On today's game, I'm not even watching now as Gasol is out. Cleveland will win with ease.

1.) so when does lebron become uncoachable? Also, dude is 30, who is the next lebron?

2.) I want paxson out as gm for the bulls. Not only does he consistently bring in crappy ex duke players but few in the clubhouse seem to like him. Thibs is an awesome coach but him and pads on don't see eye to eye.

It might be safe, but coaching Lebron or trying to coach him is nothing but a head ache.

It has become an annual right of spring to hear the "Cal to the NBA" talk. From everything Cal has said I just don't see him wanting to try it again.

This isn't really "info", rather just worthless bs you made up. ZzzzzzZZzzzzzz. o_O

I guess it should be no surprise you missed the entire point. Keep trying, and one day you might be able to keep up.

Cal will not emphatically state he will never return to the NBA.

It's actually very simple. "I will never again coach in the NBA!" Cal dances around the topic and uses code language like, "I'm happy at Kentucky". "This is a dream Job".....and on. Nowhere can you point me in the direction where Cal slams that door shut.

He uses the same language regarding the NBA that he used to explain his position while coaching at Memphis. If Cal would completely slam the door shut, those lies the media spouts that you speak of would vanish. The reason they are able to keep this going is because the door is completely left open.

And don't forget, Cal entertained Cleveland last year according to lots of reports. So that was actually after all the code coaching language you speak of, and we both see it didn't stop him from flirting. Cals openness to the NBA is something coaches will use against him until the end, and I believe it had more to do with this years recruiting class issues than platoons or this class just being crazy.

Cal goes to NBA that is fine...Kentucky basketball isn't going anywhere.

Except way down in the top 25 polls most likely each year. UK was not some hot stuff program in the decade before Cal for the most part....in case you forgot. UK had one legit title contender in the 2003 team but other than that...not much of a chance of winning it all.

But it didn't matter in all these years before even though he's never "slammed the door shut" and it comes up every offseason?

Also, which coaches have slammed the door shut? Better yet, which professionals have ever publicly slammed any door shut in any field? Cal and Saban are going somewhere every off season and might be the two strongest recruiters in the history of college sports.

Anyone who negotiates a new contract every couple years in their line of work would be foolish to essentially say "I will never take another job or go after more money cause I want to retire here for the exact same pay." That's fan talk. Billy Joe Wildcat isn't the head coach.

It would all be lip service anyway--the coaching equivalent to couples having a joint facebook account--if you need that to feel secure, they'll still leave whenever they decide to.

I just don't see it. Cal,has stated many times he and Ellen are in the best position to impact lives right where he is. He is spitting out millionaires every year and he is raising money, charity every year. His fantasy camps and alumni games. Ect.....he can't do any of this at the next level. He can't recruit every player he wants in the NBA ...sure he could get the team to,trade for a few of his former guys. But it's not the same.

1. Cal has said enough publicly to dispel the NBA rumors, but...
2. Apparently he is either encouraging the idea privately that he'd like another shot or at least not discouraging it
3. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire - my guess is he'd take the right job
4. My guesses as to the "right jobs": definitely Cleveland, definitely Chicago, maybe Knicks, maybe Lakers, maybe a couple others. Has to be a very big stage with a legit chance to win, which rules out Knicks and Lakers unless big changes.
5. Cleveland won't open this year, but Chicago will. Second biggest market, DRose, can win immediately. But do they want him?
6. He has said he won't coach at UK much longer, and he may very well desire one more shot at the league. But we might catch a break anyway: it's possible the timing just never works out for any of the handful of jobs he'd presumably take......

All I can say relative to the "Cal is leaving CRAP" is that the news writers have so many column inches to fill each day. If there is no real news to write about, they make it up. There are lots of internet posters that will post any thing just to get their post count up. Coach Cal said when he came to U.K. that this was his dream job. That's good enough for me.

Today Blatt draws up play. LJ scraps play and the tells media in post game. Not debating Blatt's qualification. Not debating LJ scrapping play. Tells media after game, why would Cal want to deal with that?

Well, if you were attempting sarcasm in your first post you failed. You need more practice.

Because Cal is smart enough to run "just give the damn ball to LeBron" in that situation like 95% of coaches in the league.

Blatt is a good coach, and he's done well there, but he's still adjusting to the NBA code.

The rumors don't bother me when it's stemming from the media. It only bothers me when some of our fans the flames when they should know better at this point.

I guess you are going to flip out then because he cant coach UK forever.....

lol . Blatt tried to call a timeout tonight when he didn't have any, time game. People wouldn't be so sure about his future if the refs would have seen it. Praise be to Tyrone Lue

True. But that's kinda why I think they'd get a top hire if Cal were to leave. The program is on top of the world right now and Mitch knows it's his @$$ if he screws up the next coach. They won't go for an "up-and-comer" like the guy before Cal, whose name I shan't mention.

I think there would be worse times for cal to leave UK. I think we get bruce Pearl worst case. And I really like him and think he would keep us more than competitive. But cal is the best in the game, and to not expect a bit of a drop off would be unrealistic.
