If Auburn doesn't win the NCAA championship this year..

Auburn is the best team in CBB this season. Mature, physical, hard-nosed two-way players up and down the roster, and they play with confidence and high energy. We couldn’t take their best shot if we were a 100% healthy – but neither can anyone else. If healthy I believe UK could beat AU with their (A-) game if AU had a slightly subpar game (maybe C/B- game). And tonight the turnovers and 3pt. shooting were no where close to an (A-) game.

Pearl was gifted the look at his best lineup and they killed UK. When Jones went out with whatever was wrong with him, he got Pettiford out there with Kelly/Baker Mazara and then Broome and Cardwell---that lineup is best for him--but he'll go to Chaney Johnson or Moore or Jones and that could cost him.

In a big game they have to play Kelly/Baker Mazara/Pettiford together. They are the best trio he has and make them extremely difficult to defend.

I like the Houston Cougars to win the dance final 2. I know. They beat us by 30 @ the Octagon.

Not saying you’re wrong (although I happen to like what Jones brings quite a bit), but going by the statistics posted on the EvanMiya site Auburn’s best lineup is Broome/Caldwell/Baker-Mazara/ Kelly/Jones. And it’s one of the top 5 lineups in CBB according to those statistics. Interestingly, UK’s lineup of Williams/Carr/Robinson/ Oweh/Butler is also one of the best and just two spots below the Auburn lineup. A healthy UK team would have been a dangerous team.

Still, maybe Pettiford has been coming on more lately; and maybe AU is better now with Pettiford over Jones. In fact, similarly I think there are those who would say UK is better now with Brea over Robinson (despite the fact that Robinson would still be crucial to have).

Duke is better in my opinion

They will not win it all. I can already see it as they have a bunch of overconfident punks that will quit on Pearl like they did against Miami a couple of years ago in the dance.
Add @Eric Bischoff to the lst of new clown Auburn posters. 🤣

a man wearing sunglasses is talking into a microphone while a group of men are watching .

Hey, opinions differ; and you've got that Dec. win backing up your's. But I just think AU is better, in no small part to being tougher and more experienced. And I actually thought AU was the better team in Dec., but the best team doesn't always win. Now, if the two teams meet again in the tournament and Duke wins, I'll have to say my friend The_Ghost_of_Born_and_Bread was right.

Of his top seven only one is a possible returner (Pettiford) The rest are Seniors so he will have to start from scratch next year like we did this year. He will own the portal however :)

I understand analytics/stats--but I've also watched when Auburn is in a tight game--they will not win with Jones in the lineup. It's Pettiford who immediately came into the Tennessee game and won it for them when they were behind. It's Pettiford late against Houston early in the year. Jones is soft/sloppy when it matters. Pettiford is tough and when you have him/Kelly/Baker Mazara they have shot making and playmaking on the court. That means 3 guys who give space to Broome. Pearl likes Jones due to FT shooting-the problem is he's a slob with the ball far to often and isn't as explosive or tough late in a game to make a big time play for a teammate or get space for his own shot.

Tip of the cap. Nice post. I think both teams have improved majorly from that early December matchup. Duke’s offensive is farrrr better than it was before new year and Auburn’s defense and depth have improved markedly. Would be such an interesting game on a neutral floor if both are bully healthy.

In addition to Kelly’s season high thirty points, the nine three pointers were a career high too. Through the years Kentucky has been on the wrong end of individual records for players you never heard of. This kind of thing just keeps on happening, I’ve never seen anything like it. He won’t hit nine three pointers in the next three games combined.
