Let me be clear, I have absolutely zero faith that Pope ever wins anything of significance here, let alone a title… but I’d rather have Billy Gillespie back than Kal back. Kal can EAD and croak.
Mr. Positive under Cal sure has become negative.
Look at Popes entire career. This is what he’s always done. Win games you wouldn’t expect and then lose horrible games that he has no excuse losing. He clearly ain’t changing. He’s overrated as a bench coach. Any fool would have told his team to guard the 3 tightly after the first 7-10 minutes yet he doesn’t and still didn’t starting the second half. It took Arkansas hitting their first 2-3 outside shots in the second half before we started guarding them close outside.
we shall see, idc if he won 30 titles here, ill give him a couple years though and we will see what happens. Years like this just simply won't cut it.

Cal made me miserable when it comes to watching UK basketball
Pope has me watching every game and caring about UK again.
this loss sucked and he should be dinged for it, but I celebrated the day Cal left. Things would have to be Kenny Payne bad before I would regret it.

He convinced Wagner, Thiero, and Z to get up for this game. Those 3 wanted it worse than anyone else on the court (with the exception of maybe Amari Williams).
I would take Cal,s recruiting. Coaching and motivation for coaching I am not interested in Cal. He got a week to prepare for a Kentucky team without any PG.

Robcat is one of the best at trolling the fan base. Make no mistake he bleeds blue but you have to know how he rolls.
Doesn’t have to be one or the other. Current version of Cal doesn’t deserve to be the UK coach. If we’re being REALLY honest with ourselves, neither does Pope. He’d have never gotten the job had he not been a former Cat, and that shouldn’t be a qualification. My hope is, the Kentucky brand helps him as much or more than he helps it and he develops into a coach that can put together a team that run great offenses like his do while also not being soft AF in every aspect of the game. If this is what we still have in 26-27, he will be gone. If it’s not, it means he has recruited well enough and is able to develop toughness and not just good offense.
It was Cals time to go no matter this years results. The game had passed him by and he should’ve retired like all his fellow coaches did. I’m gonna give Pope a pass for this year, never expected much. This year is not over. If he can win a couple in the tourney, I’d be thrilled.
