I Think Stoops Likes it…

Not sure any other coach out there would have had the patience and the persistence to do what CMS has done at UK since 2013.

I was at his first game in Nashville against WKU and Bobby Petrino.

The man had absolutely no talent to work with. Amazing what he has built at UK.

Proud he is our coach and UK is HIS program.

You see the blue collar vibe the way he and the Youngstown dudes move. Takes a while to learn the finite nuances of managing a game and a program and all the recruitment process being managed in the long term. And still managing to keep a fella around who was a loyal soldier in Eddie Gran. Believe me he is a man worthy of any kind of work around to keep him , and I’ll just leave it at that. The man just needs to stay on the track and evolve like him and his staff have thus far.

I was there too. Lost to Neckbrace Bobby. I thought we were doomed to the SEC cellar for life after that game.

CMS had to build from basically nothing.
I really believe that we were at the bottom.
CMS has done a incredible job, the best part is there isn't a sniff of off the field issues or anything to upset the NCAA, and by all accounts his players and staff love working for the guy.
When u love working for your boss you do a better job, when you love playing for your coach you play harder.
CMS will have a statue outside of Kroger and don't be shocked if one day if the Stoops name isn't on the building somewhere.

I bumped Coach Stoops hand this afternoon. I said loudly, “Keep it up coach!” He shook his head. I love this guy. I have been surprised of how good this program and, he has become. I do believe we found a great leader of this program several years ago. Keep on CMS. This is fun.
You did what to his hand now?

True, he has done a amazing job. I was just trying to show how far he has brought us. To have a Program that can compete with anybody is so damn exciting to a guy who lived most of his life with sorry UK football.
Stoops proof is in the pudding. These next couple of years are gonna be huge(aren’t they all? Lol) but if he can keep a good stream lf NFL hires for the OC position and keep seeing success. Sky’s the limit imo.

Never left a game so disgusted and disappointed all at the same time.

I can only imagine the shock CMS felt after leaving all that talent at FL State.

Now look at us, baby.
And the amazing thing is he and marrow came right out of that and hit the road talking real players into jumping on board; then followed it up again year after year. And they weren’t slick salesman with some smoke and mirror Schlick either, and had no track record to sell. they just shot it straight with with a confidence that made those players trust that knew what they were doing and we’re going to get it done. Then worked their tales off.

I think so. Regarding Stoops, I never thought I would see this level of success at UK in my lifetime. I hope CMS calls Lexington home for years to come.
I was ready to run him off in what 2014 or 15? I do give Mitch credit for sticking with him but I doubt he had any backup plans. Point being, love me some Stoops now. Love his tough football approach. No gimmicks, we are gonna maul you right at your heart, and win, a lot.

Stoops statue should be here. Also, The Bear, why we don’t promote him as a former coach is beyond me I guess. I’m a microwave fan or something.

I was ready to run him off after the Florida game in '17. I'm sure everyone has great memories about that game. I was convinced that that was the ceiling with stoops. 4 to 6 wins every year. That was it. I didn't even watch another game until the Georgia game, which meant I never got to see a cortisone and duct taped Stevie will us a win against Tennessee. 'Bama in 20 was a tough pill to swallow as well.

And I agree... but it might have to do with the way we treated Bear when he was coach here, before he left for A&M. That's my guess.

I wasn't ready to run him off because of the colossal mess that was dumped on his lap. Fortunately patience won out and UK FB continues its upward trajectory. Need to keep this train running.

I wasn't ready to run him off but I certainly was ready for CMS to bring in an experienced coach who had HC and game management experience until CMS could get his feet under him in those areas.

Fortunately for CMS and UK, Dean Hood came on the scene and provided both of those missing ingredients for CMS to learn from.

Coach Hood was an outstanding in game source for CMS and his special teams expertise were an added bonus.

I wish we still had him.

I was never in the “Faar Stoops” crowd, but let’s be real: some of them hung on until late this last season, and will pop up, again.

Seriously, I think they might be Russian bots just trying to stir trouble, once they are tired of posting on the political thread/Ukraine thread.

What amazed/amazes me is people willing to actually say that we should get rid of Stoops. I mean, it was hell on earth the first two years of Stoops' tenure when people were calling for his head after Joker's debacle (which... The dude inherited nothing. What could we expect?), but the folks calling for it this past season? A season with ten wins? Those "fans" don't deserve to enjoy a single win.

"Yeah, but we could, like, do better."

Nah.

I been posting here a long time and there were quite a few that constantly attacked him and his boring football. He always schemed to give UK the best chance to win, yeah it was old football and probably boring by today's standard. But as talent improved his game plans progressed. If UGA had retained Richt UK likely played in Atlanta 2-4 the last few years.

"Yeah, but we could, like, do better."
And we did better: Top 15 finish on the season, and in recruiting!!

Stoops’ progress was not rapid, not slow, but has been extraordinarily stable.

There is no ceiling.

Georgia was the 6th SEC program to win a national title since the advent of the BCS/NYD6.

Kentucky is in good shape to hope for one of our own the next 3 or 4 years.

From where we were, to where we are now has been a nice ride. Coach Stoops and Big Dog, along with many others, have made this not only a contender in every game, but a product that is fun to watch and be proud of. I really trust Coach and his staff to take us to another level soon. Enjoy the ride folks and have fun along the way!
