I'll give you the Tenn game vs. the worst offense in D1 Football last year. But if PSU got lit up by Ol Miss , then Ol Miss got lit up my PSU (540-510 and 394 - 343 passing) . The passing defense in the OSU-Missouri game was 106-128.
Not suggesting the SEC teams don't have great defenses. Not going to suggest a Bowl Game is the best example either. Here is just the list of OSU guys that didn't play. Starting QB and Harrison for starters.

You wont give me anything, 4 of the top BIG teams matched up against 4 of the top SEC teams and went 1-3. I will give you credit for being good with excuses. The games were played SEC won 3 of the 4. But just so you know, OSU is good enough at crying themselves, they don't need guest whiners.
I saw that Wimsatt has done so well so far the coaches would not hesitate playing him if BV was struggling. Said he is a better runner than BV and apparently has looked good running the offense. Is he better than we thought?
Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up starting. Stoops is going back to a ground and pound offense. The wide receives ain't gonna like it but it is what it is. He wants another Terry Wilson type runner. Honestly wimsatt is better than TW.
Could not disagree more on where Stoops is pointing. Run is and will continue to be a critical part of the offense, including to set up PA pass, but nothing about our OC or our personnel suggests he's going to ignore the weapons we have at WR or TE.
I do think Wimsatt will prove to be better than some UK fans give him credit for. Who doesn't love a comeback story? I don't think he starts this year but it's great to have him in pipeline to create competition, give some looks or serve as a starter in the case of injury. All of the reports on Wimsatt are good news for UK's season.
My prediction is the offense will remain the slowest in the SEC with the least plays ran. Not saying it won't be moderately successful but the WRs better get used to blocking alot more than catching passes. That is how stoops wants it.
Stoops has publicly said the exact opposite but whatever to fit the narrative you are constantly pushing here

I hope all of this Wimsatt "hype" is typical preseason back-ups are looking great talk that you see all across football from high school to pros when media, fans, and even staff start losing their minds over guys down the depth chart.
If it isn't just typical preseason fantasy hype, then folks have gone nutty.
Seems to happen specifically with more athletic/running QB types. Everyone is overwhelmed with them in preseason.
I hope he finds a spot to contribute. If he is the athlete everyone says he is, he can be used a lot of ways.
If he starts to see more than some very specific but limited situational package snaps at QB...shit has gone south. Even if BV gets hurt. Put in BA and/or start developing the young kid. Leave Wimsatt at a wildcat/skill position for those guys to get the ball to.

LOL, I just happened to stumble upon this thread. GW will never be a starter for UK, at least I hope not. Either this is a major league troll attempt or the Op is a family member. NOBODY in their right mind watching GW play QB, would even remotely think he is a SEC caliber QB. He will be used to show different wrinkles, running and maybe passing out of the WR slot, be no way will he earn starts. IF he does, we are in a heap of trouble. I am talking possibly losing to Vandy kind of trouble.
I'm pretty sure that whoever starts at QB or any other position, it will be because they have earned it and the coaches recognize that he is the best player to put out there on the field, not because the coaches, who see every player in practice every day, made some sort of gross mistake, oversight or forgot something.
Well we lost to vandy recently and just had 2 seasons of wins erased so nothing surprises me.

It’s what stoops inherently wants but knows it isn’t sustainable for any type of program growth. But he wrestles with himself over it. And his fall back is always to just dig in and run run run but the teams around him in the conference have become more aggressive offensively since his early years as a coach in the sec.
Late in the 4th Quarter Wimsatt targeted true freshman TE Willie Rodriguez twice. Rodriguez was open twice, Wimsatt threw his way twice and missed Rodriguez twice. Wimsatt's a decent enough athlete, has modest running ability but is just not an effective passer. He's part of the unfortunate situation UK finds themselves in currently and is damn near a "no way out" plight. There's a lot of pain ahead.
He is just a horrific passer. Unfortunate because he was making the right reads. Just cant deliver.
I disagree on the running ability. His athleticism exceeded my expectations and i expected a high level athlete.
Guys, no one takes Al seriously. He has Rutgers winning the NC championship every year. Every now and then he takes his act on the road which most of our fans find extremely embarrassing. Just laugh and move on.

That is a very small sample size and it’s unfair to judge him on that.
Gavin is not a finished product and needs to demonstrate consistent mechanics in order to throw accurately. Against Penn State last year, he completed 62.5% of his passes, and kept Rutgers competitive till we ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. He needs to throw with accuracy consistently, and that has been a challenge. Hoping Bush Hamden will help him do so.

I’d argue that he shouldn’t have. Gran was dealt multiple seasons of injuries and adapted to put a winning offense on the field. He made a very average Stephen Johnson and Terry Wilson winners in the SEC.
Ppl overreacted to the “run every play” Bowden year (despite it being a top 4 season under stoops and the Ls largely coming from the pre Bowden part of the season).
Truth is that we were better off simplifying blocking schemes, running a system that doesn’t require NFL level olinemen w amazing size/lateral quickness/footwork combo. Plus that style compliments the way stoops likes to play defense. There is a reason we had an unreal streak of preventing teams from scoring 30 and was in every game that wasn’t Bama or Georgia….and challenged UGA once or twice.
An argument could definitely be made there . At least our offense had an identity then . We knew what we wanted to do and how to recruit to it .

BV has a bum shoulder hurt vs So Miss. If you kept up instead of your constant search for anything negative you would know that.
If Wimsatt starts the game it further reduces UK's already slim chances in the contest.
