I believe he has real potential and hope he stays with us four years. At first he did look like a deer in the headlights but he has made incredible progress in a short time .
I very much like him on defense . Takes up a lot of space and defends reasonably well.
His offense still shows a bit of uncertainty but at times he is beginning to excel. My guess is from his freshman to sophomore year he will improve more than anyone on the team . He has the ability and talent . He just needs pt and another year of playing in Popes system to fully blossom.

Need to get his girlfriend to move/transfer to KY. She can try to convert some Kentuckians. I actually went to HS in KY with one.

Defensively he reminds me of Tommy Kron. Tall rangey guard who is ready made for a 1/3/1 trap zone . Strong defender, rebounder . Offensively Kron played next to Dampier so he didn’t attempt to score as much as I think Chandler is capable of . Great to see him drive to the rim the other night . My guess is when he gets his three point shot going and defenders have to worry about him driving to the rim as well we will really have something . .
Also I think his height compliments Perry’s lack of it very well. Hopefully they can be starting combo by jr or sr year .

We will likely have better point guards than Perry in perry's jr or sr years.

Perry is solid but it is more likely he will develop into a rotation player than a sec level starting pg

I think he is finally getting his feet under him and catching up to the speed of the game.

I hope we have Collin back on next year’s team. The freshmen are 4-year players that will greatly benefit our roster for the next 3 years. Each have good basketball skills, great attitudes, and are “team first” kids. With this crazy portal, many players are just looking for the biggest NIL offer so most rosters are going to have turnover each year.

Collin has that “ bounce” and fast twitch, he is a very good athlete. If he returns next year, the rust will be off and we may not recognize his game. He can play 3 positions and is a better than average defensive player now. I know we have some good freshmen coming in next year and Coach Pope and staff will bring in several portal players, However, I think Collin, Trent, Travis and Otega as returnees are going to be akin to Farmer, Feldhaus, Pelphrey, and Woods (the Unforgetables). Get a superstar like Mashburn (Johnson?) and history might repeat itself.

Haha I thought that’s what he meant but I never realized that was a rare thing.
Around here it probably is. Come to think of it I don’t know a single one. I know Mark Pope but not on a personal level lol. Most of them stay around the Utah area. I’m sure there are plenty in each state but the majority hang around the West. According to a quick search 80% of them reside in 8 states.

  • Utah: About one-third of all Mormons in the United States live in Utah
  • Idaho: About 7% of Mormons live in Idaho
  • Wyoming: About 9% of Mormons live in Wyoming
  • Arizona: About 5% of Mormons live in Arizona
Other states with Mormons

California: About 13% of Mormons live in California
Nevada: About 5% of Mormons live in Nevada
Oregon: About 4% of Mormons live in Oregon
Washington: About 4% of Washingtonians are Mormon

About 100% of DC are morons.

I worked with a person who was Mormon. They would not stop trying to talk to me about religion or inviting me to church. Finally, I said I’d go to shut them up. When I arrived (late) and sat in the back, I thought, “there are a ton of very tall women in this church”. Finally, someone got up and said, “we’d like to welcome the BYU women’s basketball team to our service today”.

It suddenly all made sense.

If he leaves, I’m very confident that Pope would replace him with a much better player. Same with Noah and Perry.

In this age of the portal, losing a developmental player really doesn’t hurt us at all. You can replace with a guaranteed proven piece versus hoping the lightbulb turns on or a player somehow loses his deficiencies over the summer.

You guys know that BUY I mean BYU is going to probably throw a lot of money his way since they have that big NIL budget.
They've already spent a big chunk.
AJ's amount alone will be more than a lot of schools entire payout.
BYU can't pay the rest of the team anything in the ballpark of what they're paying AJ.
A lot of AJ's NIL is probably legit where a player like Chandler has no real marketability.

I’d like to see him stay if nothing else than to see what he develops into next year.

I’ll stick with my originals thought: 1/3 back to UK, 1/3 someplace in Utah, 1/3 done with basketball.
