I don't criticize Cal much(he probably knows just as much about coaching as I do) but I think if he lets this team go home for X-mas like he usually does it could cost us later in the season. There's a LOT of work to be done and I don't really think they need to be taking 4-5 days off. Especially when most of these kids are about to experience Christmas every day for the rest of their lives if they're smart about those NBA paychecks.

Shouldn't you be worried about coaching your team?

Let the kids go home!

Family is more important than basketball.

These kids are around basketball 24/7, they deserve a little time off.

Guys, OP is in the double super secret with a cherry on top Hall of Fame for secret coaches, so he definitely knows Cal is about to make a mistake.

Why would someone who joined in 2014 choose the handle 'Lob2Davis'? Ever had an account here before? Perhaps one that doesn't work anymore?

I think op is dropping a little sarcasm there......so dont get your panties in a wad there folks....

However, i dont see how few days off would be any problem whatsoever.....long season and staying fresh and hungry at the right time (march and april) is what matters.....not first week of january.

F-ing imbecile. You obviously don't know the first thing about Christmas, since you took "Christ" out of it and replaced it with an "X". It's not about having millions of dollars so you can buy anything you want.

It's obvious that coaching part was a joke. God this board is full of idiots that look for anything to jump on and tear down.

You sound like the corporate exec that takes off a week for Thanksgiving while demanding your box store employees work throughout the whole week, including Thanksgiving day.

Geesh, people, I could be right or wrong about the X-mas thing(yeah, I used shorthand on the internet, bet nobody's ever seen that done before) and I don't think I am but if you can't recognize the sarcasm in that coaching line you seriously don't need to be questioning anyone else's intelligence.

And yeah, Lob2Davis as a screen name 2 years after our best player in decades won us a title and we'd had a very thin team with no stars other than Nerlens in '13, must be a troll. Thanks for keeping us in the loop there, genius.

For the record, I said it would be a mistake, not a catastrophe but I think it will cost us a couple of conference games that they could have won and a seed, maybe 2, in the NCAA which leads to early upset threats all at the cost of 18 year old kids missing one X-mas(there I go again, may as well change my name to Lob666Davis) at home. I'm obviously a horrible person(or worse--a Louisville fan). That said, given the weakness of the SEC it might not make much difference but it isn't some idiotic idea and it won't scar these kids for life and I think THEY will get a lot more out of the extra work to benefit them in life than they'll get out of a short time with their families over the holidays ONE TIME. But God forbid anyone express an opinion on a bulletin board. Now please feel free to resume your inanities, carry on.

And Merry X-mas, happy H-kuh and a joyous NY

This is something that always gets people riled up, and truthfully there is merit to both sides of the argument. We're a young team and the extra practice would help for a rivalry game and the start of conference play. As fans we want to see the team always going 100%. However, we must remember these are still youngings. If I was in that situation id want to be able to go see my family and friends for a few days. You got to think that every other student has left to go home, I don't see why the players shouldn't enjoy some time off.

I, too, was one of those fans that would throw my hands up and say why are you letting them go home; we have a game Dec 26. However, put yourself in the players and their families shoes. It's not like the time off has crushed this team before. Sometimes the best thing to do is back off and get away from everything to recharge, and then get back at it. A lot of these guys are going at a level they never had to before. A few days rest can go a long way.

I think peoe get in a tizzy bc the game is against UL. Which is natural for a rivalry game. If the game was against, say Buffalo, I doubt many would be upset with the time off. Just remember Cal is 5-1 in these games after Christmas, so I think he knows how to handle the situation. We also only have 4 more games this month, that will lead to more time to practice and work on things.

You must own one of these retail stores that force their employees to work all day on Thanksgiving.

I haven't read any of the replies to your post yet, but I bet they all focus on this. I'll be honest, I didn't keep reading past this. At all.

I think we found the new "give advice to ramel/fast paste/slow walking/hive me the chills" level meme on this board.

OP, you're gonna be famous. Get ready to embrace it.

That "give advice to ramel" thread was F'n hilarious....I've begged for someone to repost multiple times.

Spending time with your families is a lot more important than a stupid game. I'm sorry if that offends anyone on here, but a small minority of you are so obsessed with UK basketball you think these people are not human beings and do not have lives. I can promise everyone that if our guys take off for Xmas it won't 1. Cost them the UL game 2. Cost them any game this season. 3. Cal still has his Camp Cal that they will do.

If the OP's goofy ass works Xmas day all day and anyone that agrees with him (thankfully skimming the thread I saw NO ONE agree. Bravo!), then I might consider this. I mean all day Xmas too, and Xmas even, make them 16 hour days OP. Do you accept? I doubt it. Coward.

If Kentucky loses to Louisville it won't be because they took a few days off for Christmas, and if it does cause them to lose the game, it's a sign of much larger problems.

And family > anything else. There's no guarantee any of these guys make it to the next Christmas.
