I think Bam comes back....plays with Bamba

Bam comes from humble beginnings. That may sway him to go now. If he were to return, his shooting would need to improve, but he is the prototypical PF. He is much better facing the basket. His Post offense needs more work than his jumper, but man would he be a FORCE with Bamba and our other players.

We could be as BIG as the 2015 team was!!

I would love to see him come back! I'm not sure Bamba would come if Bam stays but one could only hope that he would. That would be one heck of a front line with Bamba and the others we have coming! Wow

If Bam returns and Bamba comes it's going to be atrocious trying to match up with our front court. Still will be light and couldn't afford any injuries in the back-court, but good lord that would be fun to watch. I'm in the group that think we would only get one or the other however. I think the frontcourt becomes too loaded if both are here with everyone else we have. Considering that, I think I would slightly prefer to get Bam back and keep all the pieces we have, instead of losing Bam and getting Bamba. Don't get me wrong, I wont be upset with either, but just would prefer a little more experience since we will be short there too. My perfect scenario would be us landing Knox and keeping Bam.

Where did you find that mock draft? The toilet store?

The latest mock draft has Bam going in the second round....I think he comes back, works on his game and plays with Bamba. They could be very frightening....

Just my 2cents..

No offense, but you're frigging nuts if you think Bam's coming back.

Matt Jones said he's hearing Bam may enter the draft but not hire an agent

So basically, he's saying "Not a 100% chance he's even going to enter the draft, but a 100% chance that if he does, he can come back"

I like it. I want Bam back.

Maybe Bam can sell some teammates on revenge and winning the title on a stacked team, and going higher in next year's draft and making much more money on all their rookie contracts.

Bam just needs to have a pretty good idea he would be a first round pick, otherwise he needs to stay at UK.

Other mocks are saying 16...30....30...
Has to be a question...didn't shine in sweet sixteen.

I think one scares off the other. Yes, they play different positions.. but there's a lot of congestion in the front court as is. A lot of rebounds and shot attempts to go around. And with a front court THAT deep, who is to say Cal doesn't rotate them in and out? Especially if any of them pick up fouls.

Bam is the type of player that can move up significantly in the draft without having to improve his game significantly.

The 2018 draft will be far weaker than 2017.

No way that Bamba is not starting if he comes to UK. The truth is that the addition of Bamba and Bam coming back would be that certain bigs would either get limited PT or simply transfer.

I can't see Bamba, Bam, Jones, Wynyard, Humphries, Richards, Vanderbilt, Washington and Knox fighting for 2 positions.

Well, Vanderbilt and Knox are SF's, so no worries there.

Who the hell is Jones??

Wynyard is out, he isn't even close to good enough and will probably transfer by next week.

So you'd have Bamba and Bam (Starting) and Humphries, Richards, and Washington as backups, with Washington very capable of playing the 3 also.

SKJ....

Bomba made it clear he wants to play the 4. The only reason for Bam to come back is to work on his face up game to play the 4 in the NBA. Therefore, both want to play the 4. If Bam stays Bomba goes elsewhere.

I think you are wrong. Absolutely no chance of both of them being at UK next year. Better chance of neither of them being at UK than both of them.

While I don't think Bam comes back (as I also belive Bam/Bamba are incongruent players), you've said similar things before last fall when you stated (I'm paraphrasing) that UK had a better chance of Knox/Bamba neither being at UK than both of them.

That's kinda your shtick.

Sacha Killeya Jones, and Vanderbilt is listed as power forwards on Rivals

Well, he's not starting over Bam.. IDC what anyone says.. I'll bet the bank that a freshman Bamba is not better, or more worthy of a starting role, over Bam..

But you bring up a good point.. if Bam and Bamba are here next year (again, don't see any way this scenario happens).. then you certainly have a tough situation for Hump, Gabriel, SKJ, Tai and even Washington.. Some in that group.. maybe multiple in that group, will leave.

JV has to play the #3.. it's a pretty weak area unless we get Knox.. We have too much depth at PF/C for him to NOT play the #3.

One question I have: Can Diallo play the #3? A little undersized at 6'5".. but if you have Green/Briscoe/Alexander (or even another guard).. does Diallo take some time at the #3 giving us a lineup that's absurdly fast and can slash from anywhere on the court?

Any way you slice this.. I really don't see any scenario that both Bam and Bamba are here next season. Honestly, you have a much better shot at neither of them being here if you ask me.

Man I just don't see how he wont jump up into the lottery after a few workouts. It might not be a huge factor but he is literally one of the most likeable kids to ever come through UK. He will interview well and show what an amazingly coachable young man he is.
Throw in he is a chiseled 6'9" 250 man child who is also an elite athlete with a motor second to none.
I really believe our fans do not appreciate the player he became the last 6 weeks of the season. He didn't hit a bunch of jump shots but he has great form and just needs repetition. He was beat to hell as he had to take on the other teams frontline pretty much by himself. Hell NC basically said most of the presser the day before our game they needed to get Bam in foul trouble and get him out of the game.
I think he will do great in the league and I think after his workouts he will go 10-13 range.
Probably my favorite player in the Cal era and think he is a star in the making.
Will miss you Bam.

Why wouldn't Bam and Bamba want to play together? If it allows both of them to play the correct position I think that's a positive.

The positions aren't as cut and dry as you'd think. Bamba is more or less a #4.. while Richards is for sure a #5.. Bam is somewhere in between. ALl three *can* move around the 4/5, except..

Richards, he can't play anything other than the #5 at this point.. His body size is made for that position and not sure he has the offense to play the #4. So now you're talking Bam and Bamba for the #4, with some time at the #5..

Unless Richards isn't much of a factor next season..
