Who else came into a new job this year with no returning roster, beat 8 top 15 teams, and has taken their team to at least the Sweet Sixteen? Nobody. Doing all that in a historically great conference with devastating injuries all year. He also has 4 wins against Sweet Sixteen teams already.

There's been some great accomplishments from other coaches out there. I just don't know if any of them could have done the same in Coach Pope's situation this year. He deserves some kind of an award.

I mean, it would have been the easiest thing in the world for him and the team to hang it up when we had to start playing our 3rd option at point guard.

Then we had to play our 4th option for multiple stretches lol

Pope made zero excuse, he just made adjustments and kept moving.

Legitimately incredible what he pulled off this season, regardless of what happens next weekend

Yep, with the multiple injuries this team has sustained. UK just keeps finding a way to adjust and play through them. Have to credit Pope all the way for never giving up and keeping this team motivated for a Sweet 16 run. Amazing for a team that did not start coming together until mid-April.

The injuries alone and making it this far should be what puts him over the top. Insane that any other coach would even be in the discussion right now.

I mean, its legitimately insane looking back.

These freshmen just weren't ready to contribute this season for the most part, let alone have to shoulder some of the moments they did.

Now they have all that experience and confidence moving forward.

Honestly, could be the best thing going forward and pay dividends next season and beyond
