I still had fun

OP finds his wife in bed with his best friend after just 6 months of marriage.

“She’s still beautiful and amazing and I still had fun.”
Comparing basketball to adultery. The problem is you care “that” much about a game where you would compare the two

I must say while I didn't find this season enjoyable pretty much at all I don't mind the OP for feeling the way they do.

Do you :)

OP understands sports has little to no impact on his life other than it being mindless entertainment and a passionate hobby.

He is a scholar among morons IMO.
Exactly what I’m saying. I don’t miss many games. I use to get pissed. I prefer to win, no doubt. I do care. But I really still enjoy the seasons. You can’t just be pissed we’re not better all the time. Look at the good we do have and can only hope we eventually get to that elite level again. I went to the Auburn game and had a blast. If you can’t enjoy the journey, that I feel sorry for those people.
But you’re exactly right. I’m passionate about my family, my career/hobby , and other hobbies (sure watching Kentucky basketball is one of my hobbies). But it to just completely upset people the way it does. Man that’s rough. Much more to be excited and grateful for in life than a game. A game where the players playing in it and coaches coaching in it, don’t have a clue who you are. They worry about their own lives. And I prefer to do the same

Oh. I wasn’t comparing those two. Just speaking to your ho hum attitude. I could give a shit about the game. Unlike you, I knew this team would suck before the season began. And that this coach will never make noise in March again.

I’m a casual fan at this point - who will disappear from the board for several months as I always do precisely because I’m not “that” into it.

At the end of the day, it's entertainment. It's a basketball game.
Were you entertained?

I’m a huge fan of music. When bands or artists that I love change over time, sometimes I like the new stuff and sometimes I hate it. When I hate it, I simply don’t listen to it and stop going to concerts.

I’m still of fan of the band in general, but am no longer entertained by what they’re producing.

Such is the case with the Cats under Cal. It’s just become a bad product. It’s not entertaining. I watched less games this year than I ever have. And that trend will continue.

If this is fun for Omaha and others, they have a strange way of being entertained.

Me personally? This season? No. Not really. But I guess the OP was so..........good for them.

But I did find last season entertaining. And the fact that I enjoyed last season gives me hope that I can enjoy future seasons.

Your music example. What happens when the band or artist you love puts out another project after the one you hate? You still listen to the new project to see if you like it no?

Same thing here. I'll be tuning in next season to see if the product is better than this one.

I’d say if the band has a new lead singer or guitarist that I don’t dig, I’ll give the new album a listen, but know that it’s going to be like the last one with him leading. And that’s Cal. Same thing over and over. I’ll casually check it out, but I’m certain the product isn’t going to be better as long as he’s here.

And the difference in the analogy I am making is that Cal’s product isn’t really enjoyable for anyone. Except, apparently, OP.

See I'm not sure I agree with the last part tho. Cal was a part of the product in 2010. In 2012. In 2015. I found some of these seasons immensely enjoyable.

Actually to continue with the music example, This is the artist who is hot and cold. Who occasionally puts out really amazing albums but then also puts out duds. And although they aren't the most consistent group in the world, the fact they have some amazing albums in their discography means you'll keep checking year in year out..........just in case it's the year they put out a great one.

I know some are of the mindset that we will never have another good season under Cal. So they stop checking. And that's fine. I think the bigger issue is the lack of consistency here.

But as a UK fan, I'm here for it next season.

I just don’t think you can make this argument that he is hot and cold at this point. He has been cold for a while now.

you remind me of barryn2000. you think if you get everyone on one side of some cyber list our hope for a new coach will come to fruition. only to forget who are athletic director is. we got billy gillispie and barry quit posting.

I don’t keep a slug like Calipari because I’m afraid of who the next coach is. He’s not a top 20 coach today. I don’t care if we have to recycle a few to get the one, we might get the one the first swing.

This mindset amazes me. I just think it’s cult nonsense.

STOP. Reeves went 0-14 in a NCAA tournament game.

Bye. You done. Do not come back. 💯

Ill say it ... No more transfer shooters. No More transfer point guards.

Back to the recruiting of shooters and point guards and guards from high school. We don't need these guys that have a ceiling ....who crumble under pressure because they were mid major quality to START.

Find me the Dorom lamb and Devin Booker. We don't need Reeves and wheeler and such. Unless we want to lose on the big stage.

We know what works and we know what don't work here at Kentucky now. We tried the transfers it ain't for us.
Think: Jamal Murray

Thank God this recruiting class has the exact players that we need.

your mind set of “recycling a few” is idiocy. cart before the horse thinking that’d make the university poorer and the standing results possibly much worse. and cultish to be smart and wait for the right coach? you’re off your rocker.

Sometimes you have to go through a coach to get the one you want. Staying with Calipari and sucking isn’t gonna cut it. You just want to find reasons to keep the guy, you’re not interested in anything else. Your position has been clear for years now. You’ve been completely hostile to people holding his feet to the fire, now run with this tired nonsense about “we could make a hire rah rah!” Bullshit. Coaches have to be changed when they are losers, and he is a loser.

He’s NOT a top 20 coach today and he’s killing our prestige. There are many coaches who could at least be better than this, even if it means we settle for a while until the guy shows. But I think we’d do well on the next hire. We’re not going into this “trying” to hire a bad coach.

Some of y’all need wake up bro. You’re just still not understanding how bad Calipari is. His last 3 years are WORSE than Gillispie. Read that twice.

suddenly you trust in barnhardt? explain this one-eighty. when has he first swung? “cult nonsense” would be expecting a different result, yet you’d do it anyway? that’s just throwing chit at a wall. try starting with the athletic director, which is where it starts and ends.

do you frickin get it? no one here, including myself, wants him anymore. so how bout some frickin tact. you think wigging out helps? get some perspective. there are things to be handled. your tallying bullshit is already besides the point. so stop keeping score and give us something productive. no one gives a crap about the whining anymore. there’s millions of dollars in the way.

you’re wrong again. i don’t want to keep the guy. i’ve accepted reality concerning the buyout. you haven’t.

who are you preaching to? this is exactly what i’m talking about. you’re claiming all these things and don’t even know my opinion. you’re not helping anything. keep crusading against the few posters that have hurt your feelings for not seeing the light. i’m just pointing out that knee jerk stuff is tiresome and has no track record of producing results.

Honestly you're coming across like a huge dork in this thread.

No one cares about your life outside of this forum, we're here to discuss Kentucky basketball only.

If you had fun this year, good for you. There are also people who enjoy going to prostitutes and having their balls stomped on repeatedly.

This is exactly the right way to take it. But that attitude is not the one that built Ky basketball. Maybe Vanderbilt.
