He’s rated higher than Wilkerson at least on 24/7. Kam Williams has such a nice stroke that he could land at the 3 unless we pick up Wilkerson. I think we could get a couple more guys. The guys waiting ont he draft are also waiting to see who the top contenders are. A guy like rj Luis or Ian Jackson you gotta take them either one. I think these guys are gonna get paid no matter what and want to be on a contender a legit contender.

Yeah he’s been around the 30’s the whole time. Very solid prospect. I feel like he could be one of those guys we go wow, didn’t expect him to contribute this much!

86 on On3 (Lowe is also not rated as well there at 59). The key with Williams is working on his ball handling and his release point if he is going to play SF. I don't see any time at PF.

I’ve seen him in that territory but didn’t realize he’s rated higher than Wilkerson.

Lowe bounced up to 41 kam Williams 55 on On3. Dioubate in the 40s . JQ number 2. Wilkerson number 29.

Still some high rated guys I gotta believe pope will recruit to the end. Jackson and Luis

I know this is just for discussion and I love to read opinions as much as anyone, but It honestly doesn’t matter what someone ranks our players as long as they fit together as a team. That’s 100% the most important part of going into next season and I believe everyone we have so far fits perfectly together. I truly couldn’t be more excited about what’s going on with the overall roster and it could end up as one of the best in college basketball next season.

Seems like Pope looks for certain things in a guy, like shooting stroke and other things he knows he can make better.
Koby is a far more complete player now, then he was last year and I bet Lowe, Cam and whoever he gets next (Wilkerson maybe) will grwatly improve too.
Then, you look at the guys he grabbed out of the portal last year, we thought is was just hoing to be a bridge year, didn't think those guys had enough talent, but Pope steered them to some monster wins, a 3 seed and a sweet 16. I can't wait to see what he does with this roster.

It was the key to our success last season. As long as Pope's at the helm, I believe roster construction will be top notch.

Having him for 3 years hopefully as well. Excited for next year but the 26/27 season could be special.

I too, think that Mark Pope looks at film of these players to see if they're good at "basketballing"

I look at position rankings more than anything. We have 3 guys top 7 at their position and another borderline top 10.

I don't put much stock in the rankings. They seem arbitrary when comparing a lot of these guys.

Unless he takes a massive jump this summer, Williams is a 3-and-D role-player and that's not a knock on him. It's just what he is right now. He's not going to take minutes from Oweh. You don't want him playing power forward. And he hasn't proven that he is going to be a go-getter in creating enough offense to be a guard that pulls starter minutes.

I feel like he has potential to be the jewel of the recruiting class for Pope.

With his size, athleticism, and perimeter shooting, he should be deadly on backdoor cuts and attacking the rim.

So, he’s a perfect fit for this offense right now, and if he would commit big time to his handles he could become a guy that creates as well. If that were to happen, he could become a legit all-SEC type talent.

All that sounds great, and I hope that the expectations being built for him meet reality.

In fact, the Wildcats' four-man group of Jayden Quaintance, Mo Dioubate, Jaland Lowe and Kam Williams currently sits at No. 2 in the country.

Yeah, you are right that some may go over the top for him, but I think that's a little early. He's intriguing as he has the tools that he MAY get there in time. However, my expectations for him are NOT are not crazy high b/c I don't expect him to average double digit scoring, or take over games, or to be a great creator for others.

However, his skill set just really appears to be a perfect fit...
  • good perimeter shooter? check...
  • good size/athleticism for the position (SF)? check,
    • at the 2/3 positions... he gives good length at those spots. While he could (likely would) struggle with guarding some quicker SGs, his athleticism/length would still allow him to cover most of them.
    • At the 4...he's a little small to play PF defensively, but he could briefly in some matchups...switches, brief periods of "small ball". However, if they are playing "small ball", I could still see him at the 3 w/ Mo D at the 4...similar length, but Mo D can probably hold up a little better in the paint

Its been so long since UK operated that way that I think some folks have forgotten how that even works.

Im trying to figure out why our odds to win the title have hardly improved since adding JQ and getting Garrison back. We have been sitting at +1500 to +1800 for quite a while. Hell, UL is more of a favorite than we are. I just don't understand that.

Which book are you using?

The team needs money to pour in to move the line down, and other teams just might have bigger gamblers sinking cash into those team's odds. Big gamblers might also be waiting to see how the portal finishes. The favorites still tend to hover around +1000 until the latter part of the season.

It just got old putting players ahead of the program every year. Even when winning I still hated not putting Kentucky first. It was a great ride and we absolutely got to see half the NBA come through Kentucky but I don’t care if we ever get a top ten pick again unless they love playing here. Now some of those kids grew to love Kentucky and that’s awesome, but having one title during that time is not acceptable with that much talent. I’m just so thankful to see Kentucky Basketball again.
