I know we need to stop the Calipari threads but this single article really needs to be read.

It feels like something larger and intentional is going on here. Anyway, this article struck some sort of nerve and I had to share it.

Thats actually a really sad article - the idea of the NBA / generic makeover & corporate seats - parking remaining empty --- generic DJ tracks and recorded "defense chants"

I honestly feel bad for the fan base

Hope they return to something more "organic" and characteristic of their state / university soon

They really do deserve better

That did not take long, I figured it would take Cal a couple of years to upset the hogs fan base.

I wouldn't be shocked if he steps down at end of the year. I definitely think 2 years is max.
As long as he keeps getting top recruits that are future pros he’s not going anywhere. He doesent care about winning all he cares about is getting his number of nba players to be as many as he can get while still able to physically do the job

Wow. Seems like Cal has worked overtime to get that fan base exactly to where this one was when he left. I wont blame him for the DJ’s, Emcees, and Ad Reads, but maybe it is his fault somehow? I said for a while before he left, his lazy ass attitude was contagious and negatively affected the players constantly.

I had a feeling it was over before it started. That was really solidified when the man went out of his way to avoid “calling the hogs” at the presser. That was really bad.

I’ll probably get the “old man yells at clouds “ treatment but , Watched a little of the Texas -Auburn game at Texas and the DJ music playing drove me crazy. They even played it sometimes while the game was playing. Didn’t realize you could do that. Obviously trying to replicate the NBA . Sad .

Guess they didn’t get the memo that the NBA is a graveyard now because the product is terrible and they pissed off half their fans.

Cal win a championship here then was basically done, especially after 2015 broke him.

He thought we'd love him forever and was tone deaf to our actual feelings instead focusing on his generational poverty breaking project.

He needs to move on from coaching and focus on some sort of player mentorship, which is where his actual love is

He needs to just be a damn agent already. That’s what he was born to be.

I'm trying to figure out if Cal just simply doesn't care what anyone thinks and is good with wrecking his reputation for some pampered lids, or he's just that oblivious old man that is bound and determined to do it his way because he saw it work a few times.

Either way, the guy is a joke and he's not reading the room.

He’s trying to teach Brad how to steal money and get him a job as a head coach before he retires. That’s what this job is all about. That and showing us how wrong we were. I hope he stays there for several miserable years. It would serve him right.

1. Why do we need to stop bashing Cal? The MFr earned the "feedback" IMO.
2. Is the article saying that Calipari doesn't care about the fanbase? Gee, who didn't see that coming. How long till he calls them dumb rednecks too?

I saw DJ with a few minutes to go last night pull his jersey out of his shorts in mid stride defensively like he was done. Several players body language looked bad and it was a two possession game at the time.

Just the slow death of college sports as we know it. Or prices too high, product not entertaining enough. It’s become NBA lite.

This is the University of Kentucky Wildcats Men’s Basketball forum. People make women’s basketball threads here daily and no one freaks out. But say a word about the guy who was the head coach of the University of Kentucky Wildcards Men’s Basketball team for better AND for worse for fifteen straight years until only eight months ago and a small number of emotionally unstable people suddenly make the jump to bitch speed in everybody’s face.

We do not “need to stop the Calipari threads.” You can own your own momentary interest in this interesting article and it will be okay.

BBN will eventually lose our collective interest in working out whatever we need to work out over Cal. It will happen organically and at that point we’ll move on not because any asshole is telling us we were breaking the conversation laws but because most other topics will just seem more interesting.

It will happen organically. One of the ways you will be able to tell when it has happened is CHEAP SEATS FOR AN ARKANSAS GAME WON’T BE SELLING FOR SIX TIMES WHAT THEY ARE FOR EVERY OTHER HOME GAME.

That’s just the way it is and it has nothing to do with Rafters. If you don’t like it, you are welcome to keep moaning about anyone raising the topic and you are welcome to pound sand. The second one will make more of a difference.
